A coalition of national and local nonprofit organizations has filed a “friend of the court” (amicus) brief supporting the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s demolition of the White House East Wing and construction of a new ballroom.

🏆 The 2026 AIA Grand Rapids Honor Awards Program is open for submissions!

AIA Grand Rapids is proud to celebrate outstanding achievements in architecture and design excellence through this year’s Honor Awards Program. We encourage firms and individuals across our community to showcase the projects, ideas, and leadership shaping the future of the profession.

This year’s Honor Awards Celebration will take place on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at GLC Live at 20 Monroe.

📅 Important Deadlines:
• Entry Registration Deadline — Friday, June 5, 2026 at 5:00 PM EDT
• Submission Deadline — Friday, June 19, 2026 at 5:00 PM EDT

No late submissions will be accepted, so we encourage all entrants to begin preparing materials early.

This year’s jury will continue to place strong emphasis on the AIA Framework for Design Excellence, recognizing submissions that clearly communicate a project’s design vision, impact, and commitment to excellence.

We look forward to seeing the incredible work being produced throughout our region and celebrating the individuals and firms helping advance architecture in West Michigan.
