☀️Uptown GR is proud to announce that we are a sponsor of a very special legacy event that will soon make its return to our Wealthy Street district for the first time in many years.🤩

Next Friday, June 19, Wealthy Street Alive is 💥BACK💥. With original founder James Price of Lady Love Barbershop and his co-pilot (and nephew) Drew Turley at the helm, the block will once again come alive with community building summertime fun for all ages.
🕶️🎵☀️🌮🏀🤩

This year's event will be considered a launchpad with which to build serious steam to take it to a next level, annually occurring event.

Next week, we'll have a really fun blog that captures a discussion between Drew and Mitch, our District Events Specialist, and it will give some fun historical color to how the event originated and what the founders' vision is for it next.

🗓️For now, mark your calendars for 12-3pm next Friday, and head on over to the Wealthy Street page for more information on what you can expect to find when you join 🆙

East Hills GR ☕️

Grand Rapids chef Katie Barnes is trading private dinner parties for public ones.

Barnes, who has spent the past decade as a personal chef, is set to open Porch Light Cafe and Provisions in July at 975 Cherry St. in the city’s East Hills neighborhood, initially as a grab-and-go counter before expanding into a full-service dine-in restaurant next spring.

Barnes’ personal chef business operated under the Porch Light Gatherings name, offering weekly meal prep and private event services. She started exploring options to open a cafe after her business partner retired two years ago.

After it opens for dine-in service next year, Porch Light will continue to offer its grab-and-go items, including meals and freshly made pasta for home cooking, while catering private and corporate events.
