We are so excited to share the new school year with you and your kiddos. Some things you may want to know about us before beginning care:

We are a service of the Grand Rapids Early Discovery Center providing quality, Reggio-inspired childcare to the students who attend the Grand Rapids Child Discovery Center elementary school. We operate on the lower level of the elementary school. OUR HOURS:
Mon

day through Friday from 7-8am, 2:30-6 pm on Tuesdays, and 3:30-6 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. OUR CALENDAR:
We follow the GRCDC school calendar and provide care on the days that school is closed for planning, pd, and most holidays. We do close with the school for snow days and power outages. Communication will be sent via email, family page, and will be listed on local news channels for inclement weather closures. For full days of care, we are open 7am-6pm and require registration requests for those days. Families whose children already regularly attend the days of the closure during the school week get first rights to registration. Off schedule families will be added to a wait list until a slot becomes available. The Discovery team will pick your children up directly from their classroom after school and bring them down to their Discovery groups which are separated by grade. For the 2023/2024 school year:
Miss Becca leads the preschool and kindergarten group located in the preschool classroom. Miss Annika leads the first-grade group, located in the cafeteria. Jake leads 2nd grade, located in the art studio. Aaron and Miss Ingrid lead 3rd through 5th grade, located in the gym. Please refer to the family handbook for more information about billing, attendance, illness, and other policies. We look forward to a school year full of growth and adventure!

Enrollment for GREDC Immaginare Preschool is now open for Fall 2026!
If you or someone you know is looking for a tuition‑free, high‑quality, Reggio‑inspired preschool, we’d love to welcome you to our GREDC Immaginare classroom this fall.
Immaginare—meaning “imagine”—is a joyful, play‑based 4‑year‑old preschool program offered in partnership with the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). Located inside the Child Discovery Center, our classroom gives children space to explore, create, and imagine all the possibilities of their world while learning what it means to be part of a caring community.

Children must be 4 years old by December 1, 2026.

We’re excited to share that open enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year is now underway for incoming preschoolers.

If you or someone you know is looking for a Reggio‑inspired, play‑based, GSRP tuition‑free preschool, we invite you to apply for Immaginare, located inside the GR Child Discovery Center at 409 Lafayette.

Discovery Care currently has several after‑care openings available for immediate placement for children in kindergarten through 5th grade for the remainder of this school year. This includes Tuesday availability for our 3rd–5th grade group.
Please note that Tuesday after‑care for the kindergarten and 1st grade group is full, but openings remain on other days.

Children must have turned 4 by December 2025 to be eligible. Immaginare is part of the GSRP “preschool for all” program, offering tuition‑free preschool for all families.
