We stand with our Canadian family in gratitude, and we pray for healing, reconciliation, and unity among all of God's people. 🍁🙏 🌏

November is National Orphan Awareness Month. If you're looking for ways to engage the younger generation in your life with understanding God's heart for the orphaned, we have a FREE resource for you created by RCA missionary Denise Victoria Kingdom. This one-hour lesson plan seeks to help kids ages 6-12 understand God’s heart for orphans and discover what it means to belong through the lens of our partnership with Setshabelo Family and Child Services in Botshabelo, South Africa.

A 1-hour lesson plan for kids ages 6-12 that helps them understand God’s heart for orphans. Can be used for Sunday school during Orphan Awareness Month, World Orphan Day, Foster Care Awareness Month, or anytime.

Emanuel tried a few different churches before he came to Anchora Church, but none of them felt quite right. When he visited Anchora for the first time he immediately felt the warmth and love of the congregation and he knew this was the place for him.

You've likely heard us talk about Mission Together Offerings a lot on here lately. That's because it's a new initiative to help all churches in the RCA, regardless of size or budget, get engaged in mission. BUT, if you can’t fit in another offering or your church doesn’t have a special offering designation, know that gifts from individuals in your congregation are also encouraged. Gifts from individuals will also help to greatly advance the mission of sharing Christ’s love in word and deed with the world.

World Communion Sunday is right around the corner. It’s a beautiful time to celebrate the unity of believers worldwide. In our opinion, there is no better way to mark the day than by coming together with churches from across our denomination to support the work of strengthening and growing the global church.

Churches in the RCA have been encouraged to take an special offering twice a year, the first being World Communion Sunday, to support mission work happening globally. The funds raised through these offerings will help us engage in mission in innovative ways, care for our missionaries better, and provide the best support possible to our partners globally.

Here is one example of how innovative mission funds are being used to support RCA missionary Grace Newhouse's role and engage the next generation in the global church in new ways.

A difficult journey into a remote flood-affected area in Nepal was nothing compared to the stories our partner on the ground heard when they arrived to distribute relief.

The group made a 14-hour journey to distribute relief to 153 families who had not received any other aid. Suffering the loss of loved ones but also the loss of losing everything they have—they’d been cut off from aid for too long.

“The grief I encountered was not something I could simply explain. It was something I could see in people's faces and hear in their voices,” our partner shared.

One elderly woman walked for nearly an hour to reach the place where the distribution was taking place. Her husband had been swept away in the flood and was still missing. She had also lost the person who had been her main source of support. Her son was in prison, and because of her age and circumstances, she was no longer able to work and provide for herself.

She stood there with almost nothing left. The flood had not only taken away her home and possessions. It had taken away her husband. “As she told me her story, I wondered how she would face the days ahead,” our partner shared.

This woman’s story was not isolated. It was the story of family after family in that part of Nepal. You can help bring more relief to this area. You can provide food, items for shelter, and other immediate relief for victims who are in some of the most remote and cut off places. We plan to stay and help for the long haul. Will you join us?
