This week, we had the joy of hosting our Ele’s Place teams from all three branches for a full-day retreat at our West Michigan space and Third Reformed Church!

Our program team shared new ideas and learning from the National Symposium on Children’s Grief as we continue growing and staying current in the ever-changing world of children’s grief support. We also had a wonderful presentation on LGBTQIA+ and the importance of creating grief support spaces where every child feels seen and supported.

Of course, we mixed in some fun too...a scavenger hunt through our space, lots of laughs, and time for our program and development teams to break out, share ideas and plan for what’s ahead.

So grateful we had this day together in West Michigan!💙

Friday Feels 💙

Last night, our Ele’s Place families created their own Roadmaps Through Grief — thinking about where they’ve been, where they are now, and what their grief journey has looked like along the way.

Grief doesn’t follow a straight road. There can be bumps, detours, stops, turns and even moments that feel a little lighter.

Family Nights give our kids and their adults a chance to create together and have conversations that might not always happen otherwise.

We loved seeing each family’s roadmap come to life. 💙

Our next Family Night at Ele's Place will help children and teens create a "Roadmap Through Grief"...a creative activity that reminds them there is no right or wrong path through grief. There may be twists, turns, bumps in the road, unexpected detours, and places to stop and rest... and that's okay. ❤️

To help bring this activity to life, we're looking for a few supplies:

🚗 Variety of car and road map stickers
🚙 Wooden craft cars
🎨 Acrylic paint markers
