A few days ago I received an email from a college student representing herself and her fellow classmates from the beautiful country of Brazil. They had no idea that they were actually writing the 1 of the people that they were looking for …see below 👇🏿 :
Hello, how are you?
My name is Gabriela, and I am a student of literature at the University of São Paulo, and in one of my classes we are working with the speeches of Sojourner Truth. Our goal is to translate those speeches into Portuguese and publish them so the Brazilian community learns about the inspiring journey of Sojourner. In addition to the translation, we are also gathering information about Sojourner's family and sociability network, and in one of my researches, I found out about Descendants of Truth and Cory McLiechey. During this phase of our project, we are building Sojourner's family tree, and I was wondering if the organization could provide information concerning dates of birth, degree of kinship, and relatives' names of the following people:
Cory McLiechey
Burl McLiechey
Thomas McLiechey.
We were able to gather plenty of information through the internet; however, we would be very honored and grateful to receive information from people who have a direct connection with Sojourner.

Side note : My cousin Burl Mcliechey planted a seed in me over a decade ago and personally asked me to assist him in keeping her legacy relevant in hopes that the youth may learn about her some day. My cousin Thomas Mcliechey ( R.I.P) had the same request as he made me promise him that I would do everything in my power to preserve Sojourner Truth legacy and he was also the inspiration behind the children’s book I created/illustrated “ Keeping the Truth Alive “. My children’s book was released 2021 the same year that there was a major agenda to ban or eliminate African American studies from school curriculum from K-12 as well as most college courses accompained by the role out of CRT ( Critical Race Theory). Below is a map that indicates what particular states passed it into law “ highlighted in blue “ , what particular states proposed it and are pending “ highlighted in purple “ and what particular states where it failed “ highlighted in Red “. Thanks to amazing women like Mckenzie Scott and Toni Morrison who not only mentored McKenzie at Princeton , but encouraged her through hard times , supervised her writing , and even wrote the letter that helped her land the job where she eventually met Jeff Bezos. We are able to excell and press on uninterrupted. Just recently McKenzie Scott donated 1 Billion dollars ( yes 1 Billion ) to HBCUs. Assuring that not only will African American studies continue to be taught at the highest level but that the descendants of those who are being studied will continue to be great and do great things for man kind with me included. So while the American government think that they have the ability to erase our truth , our stories and our history . God has a different plan and it’s inclusive to the entire globe. Receiving emails like this is the very reason why I do what I do even when the support from my piers , family and friends is lack luster. If you ain’t never supported none of my causes you know exactly who you are. Regardless I’m still impacting the world and I’m doing it for the future of your offspring , & your grandchildren not just mine. Like I said before I’m INVINCIBLE and God is the greatest ….thats it thats all

Today is November 26th , state-wide holiday in Michigan and New York honoring Sojourner Truth . I know most of yal prefer reparations over this 😏. But this is just an acknowledgment of those who built this country with free labor , blood , sweat and tears ! In that regard she represents us all ( the aboriginals , the indigenous people of America )
