Meet Ricco Ghee! ๐Ÿค 

Ricco recently completed his third season as a seasonal staffer, but his Camp Casey journey started many years before he officially stepped into that role. Weโ€™ve loved watching him grow with our program and truly appreciate the special part he plays on our crew.

Ricco has a natural ability to connect with people and make everyone feel welcome. He brings enthusiasm, positivity, and plenty of fun to every Horsey House Call, helping create meaningful moments for our campers and families.

Outside of Camp Casey, Ricco enjoys rodeo, spending time with his horse Lotto, and making music. Weโ€™re so thankful for Ricco and all the years heโ€™s been part of the Camp Casey family! ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’œ

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATIE!

Today weโ€™re celebrating one of the hardest-working cowgirls behind the scenes at Camp Casey!

Katie works tirelessly to make our programs happen โ€” moving boxes, cleaning stalls, moving trucks and trailers, snapping photos, coordinating volunteers, solving a million little problems, and somehow managing to do it all with a contagious smile on her face.

Sheโ€™s the kind of person who is always ready to jump in, get her hands dirty, and do whatever needs to be done to make a Camp Casey program special for our families. So much of what happens behind the scenes simply wouldnโ€™t happen without her!

Over the past several months, our trailers have logged countless miles across Michigan with one simple mission: delivering happiness on horseback to brave kids fighting cancer, sickle cell disease, and other life-threatening illnesses.

Weโ€™ve seen 22 front yards transformed into sanctuaries, hospital fatigue replaced by laughter, and children step out of the shadows of treatment to just be kids again.

None of this magic happens by accident. To our incredible ๐ฏ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ž๐ซ๐ฌโ€”who woke up early, hauled gear, fed the herd, and brought endless amounts of energy to every drivewayโ€”thank you. You are the heartbeat of Camp Casey.

Our Rest on the Ranch wellness retreat weekend at Black River Farm & Ranch is almost here, and our final registration window is closing fast! The Cowgirls, a few of our favorite horses, and Dolly Parton were proud to represent Camp Casey at todayโ€™s Block Out Cancer Parade at C.S. Mott Childrenโ€™s Hospital!

As another month of going gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month concludes, weโ€™re reminded that these brave warriors inspire us all year long ๐Ÿ’›

What an honor it was to hug, high-five, and โ€œyeehaw!โ€ with these incredible children, stand alongside our fellow nonprofit organizations, and tip our cowboy hats to the incredible healthcare workers who show up and keep fighting every single day.

Camp Caseyโ€™s Rest on the Ranch womenโ€™s wellness retreat is a unique fundraising event, created to raise funds that go directly toward our mission of bringing joy, connection, and meaningful experiences to children and families facing cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Rest, reconnect, laugh, exhale, and spend time with horses.

And this year, our incredible sponsors have made the retreat available at cost for just $600 โ€” because we want more women to have the opportunity to experience this special weekend while supporting Camp Casey at the same time.

Della is a 17-year-old Haflinger and is our "VP of Slow & Steady Operations." This gentle, sensitive girl loves interacting with our campers and is a dependable member of our Hero Horse Herd. Fun fact: Della's best friend's name is Jesse James and they live together at the Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Association .

๐Ÿด Meet Rachel Borduin! ๐Ÿ’œ

Weโ€™re so grateful to have Rachel as part of the Camp Casey team! Horses have been a part of her life since childhood, and she brings that lifelong love of horses together with her passion for helping others. As a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Art Therapist, Rachel has a beautiful understanding of the importance of creating spaces where people feel supported, understood, and seen.

With experience as a riding instructor, trail guide, camp wrangler, and through equine therapy programs, Rachel brings so much heart, knowledge, and compassion to our crew. We feel incredibly lucky to have her on our team and are so thankful for all the meaningful moments she helps create for our Camp Casey families. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿดโœจ
