For more than seven years, Bill Stevenson was a familiar and welcoming presence at Safe Haven Ministries. Every Wednesday afternoon, he greeted staff, answered phones, welcomed visitors, and offered a calm, caring presence to those walking through our doors, often during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Bill's impact on Safe Haven extends far beyond his volunteer hours. He, Rosemary, and their family have been a faithful part of the Safe Haven story for decades, supporting our mission from its earliest days and helping create a foundation of compassion, generosity, and service that continues today. Through his quiet commitment, Bill embodied the belief that every person deserves to be met with dignity, kindness, and hope.
Just weeks before his passing, we were honored to present Bill with Safe Haven's first-ever Magnolia Heart & Hand Award, recognizing his extraordinary service and the countless lives he touched through his steady presence and caring spirit. It was a fitting tribute to someone who lived out his faith not only in words, but through thousands of hours spent welcoming others.
Bill reminded us that welcome is a profound gift. His legacy lives on in the survivors he encouraged, the staff he supported, and the community he helped build. We are deeply grateful for Bill, the Stevenson family, and the lasting impact they have had on Safe Haven Ministries.
