Student Senate has two main goals: to represent student opinion and to improve student life by working on initiatives. Calvin has nearly 40 faculty governance committees that each oversee a specific topic, such as sustainability, core, and diversity & inclusion at Calvin. We appoint students to sit on these committees and make sure that the opinions of students are taken into account when decision
s are being made. We also work on projects and initiatives, which can range anywhere from being a physical renovation to campus, changes in school policies, class requirements, or resources, and events. A few things that we have worked on in the past year are extending open house hours, installing a flag display to show appreciation to our diverse student body, and fundraising for a fire pit to be built on campus.
