A heartfelt thank you to Utility Supply & Construction Company for raising an incredible $24,500 through their golf tournament in support of the Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center at Corewell Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals!

Because of generous community partners like USC, local cancer patients have access to free wellness services including custom-fitted wigs, massage therapy, yoga, acupuncture, and music and art therapy. These programs provide comfort, hope and healing during some of life's most challenging moments.

Thank you to our attendees, partners and community members for making this year's Corewell Health Ge**er Hospital Flannel Fest a success! 🍂

More than 120 guests gathered in their best fall flannels for an evening of impact. A special congratulations to Dr. Melissa Bayne, recipient of the 2026 Corewell Health Foundation West Michigan Ge**er Hospital Legacy Award!

Together, more than $45,000 was raised to support women's health programs at Ge**er Hospital, helping expand education and postpartum services, invest in specialized training and equipment and reduce barriers to care for women across Newaygo County.

Last week, we welcomed the Fox family to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, where we had the privilege of naming a room in honor of their beloved son Liam.

Liam, who was born with cytomegalovirus (CMV), faced numerous medical challenges from birth. CMV is a common virus that many people do not even know they have. But for pregnant individuals, it can be serious. 1 in 200 babies will be born with CMV, and 20% of those babies will have long-term health problems, such as hearing loss, vision problems and developmental delays. Simple precautions, such as extra handwashing and not sharing drinks or utensils, can help reduce the risk of contracting CMV.

In addition to a named space, the family donated toys and books to the children and families in the PICU, as well as lunch. PICU team members were invited to join in recognition of the compassionate care they provide for children like Liam every day. 💙

Through their generosity, the Fox family created meaningful impact that will support countless children and families during some of their most difficult moments. We are deeply grateful for their philanthropy and commitment to turning loss into purpose. Their gift is a powerful reminder that healing takes many forms, and that acts of generosity can bring comfort and hope to others when they need it most.

We are grateful to Hunt for a Cure targeting Cystic Fibrosis for their generous $40,000 grant supporting cystic fibrosis research at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. 💜

This mission is deeply personal for founder Pete Odland, whose son Dylan was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at just 4 months old. What began as a father's determination to change a devastating prognosis has grown into a movement that is helping advance research, improve treatments and create brighter futures for families affected by CF.

The grant was presented by HFAC board member Shane Moerdyk and accepted on behalf of the program by Dr. Susie Millard, pediatric pulmonologist and HFAC board member; Dr. John Schuen, division chief for pediatric pulmonology; Dr. Marc McClelland, pulmonologist; and Bridget Menzel, director of operations.

Thank you to Hunt for a Cure and everyone who supports this important work. Together, we are making a difference, one step, one dollar and one discovery at a time.

We join our community in remembering Bob Braman, a longtime friend of Corewell Health Foundation West Michigan.

Bob was a dedicated steward of the Braman family's philanthropic legacy, helping ensure their commitment to local health care continued to benefit patients and families. We were honored to welcome him at the groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting celebrations for the Corewell Health Greenville Hospital W.H. Braman Cancer Center and to have him share his family's story at last year's Charity Ball.

Bob's kindness, humility and commitment to making a difference left a lasting impression on all who knew him. We are grateful for the relationship we shared and for the enduring impact of the Braman family's generosity.

Our friends at D bar D Ranch Michigan celebrated another outstanding year of their Ride for a Cure event last week, raising $35,807.02 for the Susan P. Wheatlake Cancer Center at Corewell Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals!

The event's 16th year was a tremendous success, and organizer Denise Clinton summed it up perfectly: "LET'S DO IT AGAIN!"

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered and supported this incredible effort for patients and families in the Big Rapids and Reed City communities.
