What does philanthropy look like? 🎒💚

This summer, donor support helped provide hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies for local children and families through our community health centers.

A backpack may seem simple, but for a child, it can mean starting the school year prepared, confident and ready to learn.

This is just one example of how generosity creates meaningful impact across Trinity Health Grand Rapids, supporting patients, families and innovative programs that strengthen our community every day.

And right now, every first-time colleague gift can go even further. Thanks to the generosity of Randy and Linda Wagner, the first 50 gifts from new colleague donors will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $50,000. We already have 13 new donors, leaving 37 matching opportunities available!

Together, we can continue creating moments of care, hope and healing for those we serve. 💚

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚

Today, we recognize that mental health is an essential part of overall health and well-being. At Trinity Health Grand Rapids, we are committed to ensuring individuals and families have access to compassionate, high-quality behavioral health care when they need it most.

Through a uniquely integrated, region-wide behavioral health ecosystem, Trinity Health West Michigan combines clinical excellence, access across urban and rural communities, specialized inpatient and outpatient services, robust telehealth capabilities, and strong community partnerships. Together with our community partners, we offer a continuum of care that few Michigan health systems can match.

This World Mental Health Day, we encourage open conversations, reduce stigma, and remind those who may be struggling that help is available and seeking support is a sign of strength.

💚On September 25, we brought together board members, leadership, and philanthropy teams from across Trinity Health Michigan for a day of meaningful learning, collaboration, and connection at our annual Board Retreat.💜

We were honored to welcome Bill Littlejohn, CEO and SVP of Sharp Healthcare Foundation as our featured speaker, guiding thoughtful discussions and engaging fireside chats with Dr. Matt Biersack, President of Trinity Health Grand Rapids, Julie Washington, Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing, Communications and Experience Officer for Trinity Health, Shannon Striebich, President and CEO of Trinity Health Michigan, and Joe Chamberlin, Saint Mary's Foundation Board President.

Together, we explored the future of philanthropy, shared perspectives from across the ministry, and strengthened our collective commitment to advancing health and healing in the communities we serve.

Today’s Trinity Health Academy gave community leaders an opportunity to experience Trinity Health Grand Rapids in a whole new way, from immersive clinical rotations to conversations about the challenges and opportunities shaping health care today.

And, of course, we had a very special four-legged friend make an appearance during our workplace safety session! 🐾💚

We’re grateful to our incredible leaders and colleagues who shared their time and expertise, and to our guests for joining us with curiosity and thoughtful conversation.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🩷

At Trinity Health Grand Rapids, we know that philanthropy is good medicine.

Thanks to a $1 million philanthropic investment and the continued generosity of our donors, our Mobile Mammography Program is bringing lifesaving breast cancer screenings directly to communities across West Michigan. Last fiscal year alone, the program provided more than 2,135 screenings, helping remove barriers to care and improving access to early detection.

What began as a donor-funded initiative has become a vital community resource, advancing health equity and helping save lives through the power of prevention.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're grateful for the donors, community partners, and caregivers who make this impact possible every day. Together, we're expanding access to care, detecting cancer earlier, and creating healthier communities.

On September 30, Trinity Health Grand Rapids retirees gathered at 5 Lacks in the Lacks Cancer Center to reconnect and hear updates on the future of our organization from Carolyn Leja, DNP, CNO; Dr. Brandon Francis, CMO; Dr. Lisa Kinsey Callaway, CMO of THMG; and Michelle Rabideau, President of Saint Mary's Foundation.

We are honored to celebrate the individuals whose years of service continue to leave a lasting impact on our patients, colleagues, and community. Thank you for carrying our mission forward and remaining an important part of the Trinity Health Grand Rapids family.
