Brava, Emily! 🎉🎶
Join us in congratulating one of our sopranos, Emily Rucker, on being named in Crain's Grand Rapids Business 40 Under 40 for 2026!
Emily is a partner at Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, where she has helped rebuild the firm’s construction industry group. She also takes on pro bono work and serves on the board of Grand Rapids Civic Theatre.
On top of all of that, she still makes time to sing with us every week! We are so proud to have her as a member of GRWC.💜

We will so greatly miss Jean Reed Bahle, a brilliant writer, director, actor, and a wonderful friend to many. She was so generous with her time and energy with us last Spring driving in 2 hours from her home in Sutton’s Bay to work with our soloists for “Sincerely Yours, Pauli Murray”, offering her expertise in bringing out the emotion and the story. She was always encouraging and gentle…yet demanding. Jean was a gift to our entire community. Our thoughts are with David and all her loved ones. ❤️

It’s kinda chic to be a member of the Grand Rapids Women’s Chorus. Our 31st season kicks off this week. 🎶💜

08/31/2026

What started in 1996 with just 12 singers has grown into a chorus of 120 singers.

Here are a few fun stats about our chorus this season:
This year we are welcoming 22 new singers: 12 sopranos and 10 altos.
Our members range in age from 21 to 77.
Around 49% of our members identify as LGBTQI+.

We’re so grateful for every voice that makes this chorus what it is. Here’s to another season of singing for justice, peace and equality. 🎶💜

The world lost an extraordinary force for good yesterday. The GRWC is especially grateful for her musical gifts and the stories she told through song. Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for the songs, the laughter, the kindness, and the light. https://youtu.be/M9X0T3mIys4?si=huJZaWpp-2AJyXj-

Soloist - Monica Brother. Video created during the first months of the Covid shut down after announcing that we had to cancel our 2020 spring concert.

This is our love letter to all of you at this time of separation. ...

July is Disability Pride Month, and we’re celebrating by making music accessible to everyone. Access is incredibly important to us, especially if you can’t hear our music. That’s why we’re proud to have a certified ASL interpreter, Mieken VanderWaerden, with us signing “They Are Mother” by Jennifer Lucy Cook so every audience member can experience music fully. Music is for everyone. 🎵🦻🏼🤟

Here is one of Ashley’s favorite books. What are some of yours?

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir is unlike anything you’ll EVER read. Expect necromancy, space adventures, laughing harder than you ever have before, and best of all…… le****ns!
