Kent County Medical Society Alliance Connecting and growing for a healthier Kent County.

Alliance members represent all specialties, and all stages of medical life, from the training years through retirement. Our membership is open to spouses/domestic partners of physicians, MD’s, DO’s, medical students, interns, residents and fellows. The philanthropic focus of the Alliance is on health related needs in the community with an emphasis on issues affecting families. Since 1990, our annu

al Dose of Generosity Charity Event (formerly called the Children’s Charity Ball) has provided over $1,250,000 to help support more than 26 charities in the greater Kent County area. In addition to this annual fundraising event, the Alliance awards mini-grants to local charities, holds a holiday party for area children in need, collects household items to assist young adults who are exiting the foster care system (Judge Gardener’s Closet), donates items to local domestic crisis shelters, collects and organizes supplies for overseas medical missions, and advocates for patients and physicians on legislative issues affecting health care.

The Michigan State Medical Society Alliance recently held its annual meeting and celebrated its 100th anniversary at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island from Friday, May 29th, through Sunday, May 31st. It was an eventful weekend filled with business sessions, guest speakers, self-guided tours, and camaraderie among physician families. It was especially meaningful to celebrate the Alliance centennial where it all began. During the event, we said farewell to MSMSA President Embarina Betzle (Kalamazoo) and welcomed our incoming President, Suzy Bernt (Kalamazoo).

A huge thank you to the committee for organizing such an exemplary event. The fabulous weather made the weekend truly perfect.
