Our final UCCF Summer FUN event is this Saturday! We're keeping an eye on the forecast, but weather permitting, let's celebrate the end of summer with a beach day at Millennium Park Beach! ⛱️☀️

No cost to attend; all college-aged folks are welcome, and we'll have beach snacks. If you're planning on coming, please let us know so we can plan accordingly!

So grateful for a wonderful weekend at Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland!

It was such a gift to be invited to preach and to share a little about UCCF and our ministry happening with college students in Grand Rapids.

I talked about Peter stepping out of the boat in the middle of a storm—and how, sometimes, the hardest and most important steps we take happen when life is anything but calm. College is such a time of stepping into the unknown: figuring out who you are, asking big questions, trying new things, and sometimes wondering where God fits into it all.

That’s one of the things I love about campus ministry. We get to walk alongside students in that season and create spaces where they can belong, ask honest questions, wrestle with faith, and discover that God is already there—even in the middle of the storm.

Thank you, Trinity, for the warm welcome, the conversations, and for caring about college students and this ministry. I’m leaving Midland feeling really grateful and encouraged.

UCCF's "Church Lunch" Seeks Volunteers for Fall 2026!

Each week, Church Lunch (previously known as Open Table Lunch) offers a free, home-cooked meal for 70–100 college students. More than just lunch, it’s a place where students build community, find support, and know they are welcome.

We're seeking volunteers to provide a meal during our fall semester at our Sign Up Genius. Through your in-kind donation of a meal, your church or group becomes an important partner in this ministry of hospitality. Whether you prepare the food yourselves or purchase it, your generosity helps create a space where students can connect, rest, and enjoy a good meal together.

How it works:

Choose a date that works for your group.
Plan a meal for approximately 70–100 students.
The meal goes from 11-1 pm, and your group is invited to stay, serve the meal, and visit with students.
We provide the drinks, cutlery, silverware, etc.
Simple meals are always appreciated (and often better)! Some student favorites include tacos, pasta, baked potato bars, chili, soup and sandwiches, breakfast for lunch, and casseroles. Please include a vegetarian option, and don't forget dessert!

Could you commit to share your time, generosity, and hospitality this fall? We hope you'll share this information with a group or church leader who you could partner with to bring a meal. Together, we’re creating a welcoming place where college students can enjoy a meal, build relationships, and experience the care of the wider community.

“Will you cling to your imagination for something more?”

Day 2 of Staff Conference began with Cole Arthur Riley’s phenomenal keynote. She shared themes of wonder, intergenerational relationships, and beauty as forms of resistance and rejuvenation amidst the pain and despair in the world. She invited us into these moments of, “rebirth that still possess memory of grief.”

Rooted in that invitation, the rest of the day was spent in networking, workshops, and further conversations. May we continue to lean into the wonder in the last day of this conference and as we go back out into the world.

Today, Pastor Laurie worshiped with Grandville UMC both in the park and in the sanctuary. What a beautiful morning together! We reflected on what it means to create communities of belonging and to carry one another in genuine faith. Thank you, Grandville UMC, for your warm welcome and for the opportunity to worship together in such a joyful and meaningful way.
