Mírenlos. Estos son los rostros que dijeron “sí”. Los que llegaron con miedo, con historias en la garganta y con el corazón latiendo en español.
Escuchamos acentos distintos, pero un mismo latido. Vimos lágrimas de “no pensé que este espacio existiera para mí”. Vimos abrazos entre desconocidos que ya se sentían familia. Vimos a West Michigan reclamando el escenario que siempre nos perteneció.
Agradecidos con cada artista que confió y vino. Su valentía es la fundación de esta compañía.
Esto ya no es un sueño de un grupo, esto es real. Esto respira. Esto habla en nuestro idioma.
Y sobre todo, GRACIAS.
Gracias a Allyson Paris y al Civic Theater por abrirnos su casa cuando muchos nos cierran la puerta. Gracias por tratarnos con dignidad, por creer que nuestras historias merecen techo, luz y un escenario profesional. Ustedes no nos prestaron un salón. Nos dieron pertenencia. Y eso no se olvida.
A cada persona en esta foto: gracias por atreverse. A nuestra comunidad: prepárense. Vamos a contar nuestras historias como nunca antes. En nuestro idioma. Con nuestra verdad.

Look at them. These are the faces that said “yes.” The ones who arrived with fear, with stories caught in their throats, and with hearts beating in Spanish. We heard different accents, but one shared heartbeat. We saw tears of “I didn’t think this space existed for me.” We saw hugs between strangers who already felt like family. We saw West Michigan claiming the stage that always belonged to us.
Grateful to every artist who trusted us and came. Your courage is the foundation of this company. This is no longer just a group’s dream. This is real. This breathes. This speaks in our language.
And above all, THANK YOU. Thank you to Allyson Paris and the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre for opening your home to us when so many others shut the door. Thank you for treating us with dignity, for believing our stories deserve a roof, a light, and a professional stage. You didn’t just lend us a room. You gave us belonging. And that is not forgotten.
To every person in this photo: thank you for being brave. To our community: get ready. We are going to tell our stories like never before. In our language. With our truth.
This is just the beginning. Michigan Hispanic Theatre Company now has a face, a voice, and a heart. And it’s them.
