The Economic Club of Grand Rapids

The Economic Club of Grand Rapids Men and women from every sphere of activity are invited to hear the views of outstanding, nationally-known speakers who address our regular meetings.

The Economic Club of Grand Rapids is an association of individuals interested in, and contributing to, the growing economic health of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. The club's semimonthly luncheons, held on Mondays from September through June, afford members the opportunity to meet over lunch with their contemporaries in the community. The club not only serves as a forum for current events, b

ut also as a meeting place for present and future leaders of the community. This past season, we held 18 meetings with an average attendance of 400 persons per meeting. Our membership, as we begin our thrity-first season, has reached over 1100 persons, including most of the top-level executives and community leaders in the greater Grand Rapids area.

What an unforgettable evening! Last night, more than 3,400 guests joined us as we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of The Economic Club of Grand Rapids at our 37th Annual Dinner. We were honored to welcome Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush for a thoughtful and inspiring conversation on leadership, civility, and the future of our nation.

A special thank you to our Board Chair, Dr. Philomena Mantella, for her exceptional leadership and for moderating this historic discussion.

Congratulations to Mark J. Bissell, recipient of the 2026 Business Person of the Year Award and the DeVos Family, recipients of the Slykhouse Community Leadership Award.

Special thanks to the Grand Rapids Symphony, Grand Rapids Ballet, and Opera Grand Rapids for delighting us with extraordinary performances that made this milestone celebration even more memorable.

As we reflect on 50 years of connecting, informing, and inspiring our community, we are grateful to our members, sponsors, volunteers, and partners who made this historic evening possible.

Professional sports attract fans and pump up our local economy. With Van Andel Arena and LMCU Ballpark home to the Grand Rapids Griffins, GR Gold, GR Rise and the WM White Caps, it’s easy to root for the home team. And the roster is growing with the Athletic Club of Grand Rapids coming to Amway Stadium in 2027. The Economic Club of Grand Rapids is dedicated to coaching up more ways for our members to connect, inform and inspire each other through our Econ Club forums. Let’s go!
