Shurm Daddy Memorial Community A memorial community for our brother, Brian Schuurman. We raise awareness for anxiety, depression & su***de prevention. Coming together in community is powerful.

Celebrating our 4th year, the annual SDRR is memorial bicycle event for our brother, Brian Schuurman. This event is meant to raise awareness for anxiety, depression, and su***de in a fun and uplifting setting. Together, we can show people who are struggling that they are loved, they are not alone, and they are needed. We are proud and pleased to partner with The Mental Health Foundation of West Mi

chigan! The Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan is a local organization whose mission to educate and build awareness throughout the community about su***de prevention and other challenges to good mental health in order to ensure every individual is supported in their journey to a full, healthy life. Some of the programs the MHF facilitate include:

Live. Laugh. Love. A program focusing on su***de prevention and mental healthiness. Some interactive lesson plan topics include: Diminishing the stigma that goes along with mental illness, promoting stress and educating people on coping skills, sharing information on how to prevent depression and su***de, tools for dealing with anxiety, management and education of deliberate self-harm disorders, support for co-occurring disorders related to mental illness and substance abuse, and information on bullying. be nice. The be nice initiative is designed to spread awareness surrounding the issues of bullying and the importance of treating people with civility community-wide. By creating awareness, we will minimize and reduce the devastating effects of bullying such as depression and su***de. Bullying is a significant issue within our schools and communities both locally and nationally. The be nice. campaign strives to educate students and community members about how simply "being nice" is an effective way to promote a safe and civil environment within the school and community. To “be nice” is more than just saying don’t bully, it is a strengths-based perspective, and a positive way to minimize bullying. It is a proactive way to encourage kindness among kids, parents, and co-workers. It is all-encompassing. It goes further than just an action.
