This month, we celebrate YOU—the social workers who dedicate your time, energy, and heart to making a difference in the lives of children, families, individuals, and communities across Michigan and beyond. Whether you are in schools, hospitals, community agencies, private practice, or anywhere social work takes you, your work matters.

Social work is not always easy. It requires courage to face challenges, resilience to keep showing up, and compassion to meet people where they are. Every day, you uplift those in need, defend the rights and dignity of others, and transform communities through your knowledge, care, and advocacy.

As we honor this month, take a moment to recognize the incredible impact you have—both seen and unseen. Your dedication creates ripples of change that extend far beyond the moments you witness. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to building a more just, compassionate, and hopeful world.

knows mental health is just as important as physical health. The 2023 budget constructs a new state psychiatric hospital complex, expands patient capacity at existing mental health facilities, and offers student loan reimbursement for Michigan’s mental health providers, to name a few.

It may be the last day of social work month but we celebrate all of you all year round!

Our last highlight is Kelsey Leonard!

“Kelsey is our fearless leader as the Clinical Manager at Arbor Circle Family Base Division. Over the last ten years, Kelsey has been one of the heart beats and rocks of the program. She is caring and supportive of her staff and is very knowledgeable in children and family care. She shows her appreciation for everyone else all the time and just wants everyone to be happy. Her humor and lightheartedness is another part of her that is appreciated as we work with some of the hardest clients. She needs to know (hopefully she already does!) her hard work doesn’t go unnoticed and is so very appreciated. Kelsey is most deserving of this celebration and we love her for just being herself, a selfless and passionate person.”
