Housing instability is happening everywhere - rural Michigan, larger cities, even in the sprawling suburbs.
While we want the weight of this truth to move you to action, we also want you to take hope and encouragement from the fact that many people and organizations are striving to create easier access to sustainable housing.
Some organizations like Dwelling Place of Grand Rapids focus on housing accessibility, while others like Upcycle Bikes and Steepletown Workforce Development focus on transportation and job readiness, which can help maintain housing once secured. Then others like Community Food Club focus on food insecurity to help prevent the hard choice of choosing between paying for groceries or paying for rent. And, of course, we invite you to join AYA in our work, as we seek to provide housing and access to these stated resources through our Drop-in and Housing Programs.
So this weekend, don't be discouraged; if anything, we hope you feel encouraged by these incredible organizations and find resolve to research, volunteer, or donate to an incredible organization near you.
