What does community impact look like? Sometimes, it looks like a place to gather, explore and make memories together. ✈️

The Gerald R. Ford International Airport Viewing Park is one example of how local support can turn into something lasting.

CCF partnered with the airport and helped lead the fundraising efforts behind the park’s renovation, helping transform the space into a welcoming destination for families, visitors and aviation enthusiasts.

Today, the park is a place where kids can watch planes take off, families can spend time together and the community can enjoy a unique space right in our own backyard.

It’s a reminder that when a community comes together, the impact can be seen and experienced for years to come.

Nonprofit Spotlight: Kids Hope USA

Kids Hope USA connects local elementary schools with churches and community organizations to support students through one-on-one mentoring. Screened and trained adult mentors are matched with students and meet with them for one hour each week during the school day.

Through these consistent mentoring relationships, students receive conversation, guidance, friendship, and support from a caring adult. Kids Hope USA shares that mentoring can help students build greater confidence and resilience, improve academic engagement, and receive consistent emotional support.

We’re proud to highlight Kids Hope USA for building meaningful one-on-one relationships and helping students feel seen, valued, and supported in their schools and communities.

Nonprofit Spotlight: COMETS Robotics Team 3357

COMETS Robotics Team 3357 brings Forest Hills High School students and adult mentors together to design, build, and compete with robots through FIRST Robotics Competition. Along the way, students develop hands-on skills in areas like machining and coding while building teamwork and time management skills.

Their impact goes beyond competition. Through a partnership with the Grand Rapids Public Library, COMETS helps introduce younger members of the community to STEM through LEGO Robotics, where participants can build and code their own robots.

We’re proud to highlight Comets FRC Team 3357 for helping students build new skills, explore future opportunities, and share their passion for STEM with our community.

Want to learn more? Meet the team from COMETS Robotic Team 3357 at The Beauty of Community on November 11, where they’ll be one of 15 local nonprofits sharing their mission. Attend the event, connect with organizations making a difference, and cast your vote to help award a community grant.

25 Years of Impact: Tributes & Triumphs Awards

For years, the Tributes & Triumphs Awards have brought our community together to recognize the people and organizations making a difference.

From volunteers and nonprofit leaders to philanthropists, local businesses, and community changemakers, these celebrations have highlighted the generosity, leadership, and service that help strengthen our community.

Behind every recognition is a story of someone choosing to get involved and give back.

Over the coming months, we’ll continue sharing the projects, people, and moments that have shaped 25 years of community impact.
