This year’s JA Day at the Capitol brought together students from across Michigan in Lansing to hear from business leaders, connect with peers, and meet with local lawmakers. Each student arrived with a unique JA experience, from launching a business through Pitch Day to competing in the Titan Business Challenge or stepping into the role of CEO in the JA CEO Challenge.

While their journeys may have looked different, they all gained valuable lessons in entrepreneurship, career readiness, and financial literacy. Hear directly from these students and members of JA's Executive Committee about how JA is shaping students' understanding of financial literacy and preparing them for the future.

Last week, President and CEO of Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes Bill Coderre, wrapped up a fun-filled five-week JA Our Families program in Mrs. Donohue's first-grade class with a very special student-- his grandson! At the end of the program, he was surprised with a colorful thank-you book from the students, thanking him for teaching them about "wants, needs, goods, services, neighborhoods, and everything".

Even as the school year wraps up, we are excited to see the impact that JA programs continue to have on students of all ages.

Last week, Kentwood ARCH visited JA BizTown for an afternoon of working, shopping, and adulting. Students from across Kentwood Public Schools worked together to pay off their business loans by selling their goods and services to each other, and almost every single business in the town was able to pay off its loan!

This group overcame challenges creatively and showed up to BizTown with energy (and a few dance moves!). Thanks for coming to BizTown, Kentwood ARCH.

A summer job is more than a paycheck, it’s often a young person’s first step toward independence, confidence, and career readiness.

Through hands-on experiences, students learn how to communicate, problem-solve, manage responsibility, and navigate the workplace, skills that last far beyond the summer season.

At Junior Achievement, we’re helping prepare students for those opportunities and the future ahead.
