At New City Neighbors our vision statement is, "Growing neighborhood leaders." And we're excited about this year's leadership cohort! Our Administrative Director, Sierra, has been a dedicated part of the New City Neighbors team since 2016 when she began as a youth-employee. You may have seen her running our Spring Soirée, working in our café, or helping with CSA pickup, but much of what she does happens behind the scenes—making sure our staff, youth, and donors feel supported and cared for. Sierra is a deeply valued member of our team, and empowering youth has been at the heart of her work with New City Neighbors since the start.

Over the past few months, Sierra has been away from work as she recovers from multiple surgeries following a breast cancer diagnosis. During this time, she is raising funds to help support herself and her future as she navigates treatment and recovery.

Did you know we feature the work of local artists in our Farmhouse? When you stop by on a Thursday for your veggies and pizza, check out the work of Jen Settergren ( on Instagram), who uses recycled materials to make new art. Her featured work is available for purchase and part of the sales go toward supporting our mission.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came to support and celebrate with us today at our event, A Place to Grow - The Ball Ave Reveal & Celebration.

Connecting with you all, seeing children play around the site, hearing laughter and ideas flow, or watching folks take contemplative walks through the tunnels, brought our team so much joy.

We loved sharing our years worth of work with you; and we can’t wait to see where we will go, together, in the future.

Join us tomorrow, September 16 from 4:30-6:00p to see the plans for Phase 3 of our On Solid Ground project, including our vision for a new farm training hub. You’ll get to see what the future building could look like, learn more about our net-zero design approach, and hear how we envision this space serving farmers, youth, and the broader community.
