Since we are simulating a derecho (a squall line bringing destructive winds throughout the area), I encourage everyone to have a backup power source, whether it's a battery for your handheld radio or the ability to run your entire radio room off emergency power. We may simulate power outages during the exercise.

Additionally, we will also have a component where interested participants can drive around in their local neighborhoods and report ground-truth info on our nets. If you are interested, please have a mobile radio ready to go.

As a final bonus, if you are an amateur radio Winlink operator, we will ask for Winlink reports during part of the exercise. If you don't have Winlink capabilities, no problem - we can ask you the questions on the form and fill out reports for you in order to pass them along to the state EOC.

Also, since this exercise is open to everyone, you are welcome to invite others to participate, even if they haven't signed up yet.
