God is holy, and Romans 3 measures everyone against Him. "There is no one righteous, not even one" (3:10). The law speaks "so that every mouth may be silenced" (3:19). This is the guilt half of From Guilt to Grace, and it isn't cruelty. It's a diagnosis. God's holiness is the standard that exposes us, and Scripture won't blur it to make us comfortable. Here's the mercy hidden in the hard passage: only people who've gone quiet before a holy God are ready to hear what He says next.

Cheerful! But honestly, there's something freeing about not having to pretend anymore. When we stop performing, we start receiving. Asking God this week to change the why behind my words and actions, not just the what.

God is a just and accurate judge. This is both good news and terrifying news. We will never be wrongly judged for something we are not guilty of. But unless we have accepted salvation from Jesus Christ, we will receive the full weight of judgement that our sins deserve. This makes me all the more grateful for the gift of grace Jesus extended to me while He took on the punishment for MY sins on the cross.

In school, were you always the one chosen first for a group project or sports team? Or were you the last one chosen? This verse in Romans reminds us that God is not like us. He doesn’t show favoritism but graciously loves us unconditionally, flaws and all.

God is perfect and just. Romans 2 says His judgment is "based on truth" (2:2), with no favoritism (2:11). He doesn't judge on appearances, reputation, or religious resume. He judges reality. That should unsettle us, and yet the same chapter reveals His kindness, forbearance, and patience, all meant to lead us to repentance (2:4). A just God who is also kind: that's not a contradiction. That's the setup for the gospel.

Let’s give it up for Logan! This guy was supposed to be leading us all year, but apparently God had other plans for his life (the audacity, right?). Doesn’t matter though - we’re not letting him disappear without a proper send-off. Logan, your scruffy face and faithful presence have meant everything to this class, and we want to make sure that gets honored somewhere other than just our Band chat. Thanks for showing up, stepping up, and being the kind of leader who made us all want to do better. We’re going to miss you around here.
