The Well Being Foundation

The Well Being Foundation Our mission is to advance the use of movement and exercise for better mental health in our community. When it comes to exercise, people encounter many barriers.

The financial barrier certainly can be one of them. Working with a personal trainer is oftentimes financially unaffordable to many, as is paying to attend group fitness classes. Sometimes a person is in need of the proper clothing or shoes for exercising or working out, but again, it is not within their budget. Similarly, for many people who are struggling with their mental health, seeing a therap

ist on a regular basis is something that they can not financially do. Or, if they do end up seeking treatment, it leads to increased financial stress in their lives.

The purpose of The Well Being Foundation is to eliminate these barriers in order to ensure that all of our clients can get the help they are looking for, and be able to take full advantage of the fitness and exercise aspect of our programming that is there primarily for the betterment of their mental health.

We want to provide everyone with the opportunity to get help, get active, and get well.

Dear Friends of The Well Being Foundation,

On this , thank you for your support and for believing in our special approach to mental health treatment. As you know, the mission of The Well Being is "to advance the use of movement and exercise for better mental health in our community."

Thanks to you, 2024 was a banner year at The Well Being Foundation! Because of you we have some incredible milestones to share:

We’ve raised over $25,000 in 2024 and worked with over 60 clients.

In partnership with Still I Run - Runners for Mental Health Awareness, the Starting Line Scholarship has helped over 45 people reach their goal of exercise and mental health.

Our one-of-a-kind program of incorporating exercise with therapy was recently highlighted and promoted on the “Move to Live More” podcast, a podcast that is nationally recognized as a leader in the realm of fitness and health. We will include a link to the podcast in the comments below.

Our Fall Fundraiser raised over $20,000 which will be used for our clients who are not able to afford personal training, shoes, and Starting Line scholarships.

Our 4th annual Westside Wiffle Ball Tournament was a great success and a fun time! This festive gathering is a fan favorite with teams from all over West Michigan engaged in spirited competition, great food, and co-sponsored with the Mitten Foundation, Inc. – all for the benefit of our clients!

While there is much to celebrate, there is still more work to be done. As The Well Being continues to grow, so does the need for funding through The Well Being Foundation. Our community needs this service and we are so grateful for your support. Every time you post, share, and consider The Well Being you are helping people begin their wellness journey through exercise and mental health.

Making an impact is easier than you think.

Did you know:
1 pair of athletic/running shoes: $90.00
1 Month of Personal Training: $250.00
1 Month of Yoga Therapy: $280.00
1 Starting Line Participant: $650.00

Thank you for a tremendous year and we hope to see you at one of our events in 2025. Have a great holiday season and we hope you will keep us in mind as you consider your end-of-year giving. Cheers to a healthier and happier 2025!

Gratefully,

The Well Being Foundation Board of Directors

This past Thursday we had our 4th Annual Fall Fundraiser for The Well Being Foundation. It was our biggest and best yet. It was an evening filled with great food and great company, and our guest speakers provided us with incredible testimonials regarding how their lives have been changed through the Foundation.

It is such a wonderful thing to see that the number of our supporters continues to grow each year. I think that says everything about the importance of our mission to increase the use of exercise and movement for better mental health in our community.

If you weren't able to attend but would like to make a donation, please click on the link below! Any amount is appreciated!

Exercise can boost self-esteem and cognitive function: A review published in the National Center for Biotechnology Information https://buff.ly/49K7gr8 highlights that exercise can improve cognitive function, memory, and self-esteem, all of which contribute to better mental well-being.

Just 3-4 weekly sessions can significantly improve mental well-being: A study from UCLA https://buff.ly/3wCei2Z found that individuals who participated in at least three 45-minute exercise sessions per week reported a 40% reduction in poor mental health days compared to those who did not exercise regularly.

One think I love about this article is that it is from 1985. There is nothing new here - it just makes sense. We just need to use this to it's full potential.

At the Well Being Foundation our mission is to advance the use of movement and exercise for better mental health in our community.
