At Joe Taylor Park, you say? 👀

This morning, City commission approved the first funding awards for our new Urban Agriculture Project. Access of West Michigan and Jade Rabbit are our first-round recipients and we’re so excited to see them launch community-driven agriculture projects in our parks!

🌳 At Joe Taylor Park, Access of West Michigan will create raised garden beds, an urban orchard, and a native plant garden, and more.

🌳 Jade Rabbit, who will be working at Garfield Park and Martin Luther King Park, will work on infrastructure improvements, raised garden beds, pollinator habitats, and more.

Congrats to both recipients! 🥳

Our shared humanity demands that we care for one another, near and far. Families in Venezuela are facing unimaginable loss and suffering, a painful reminder that war leaves devastation in its wake. Here at home, too many people live in fear and uncertainty. I grieve the woman killed in Minneapolis by ICE, a life taken where safety and dignity should have been guaranteed. We do not need ICE in our cities. Our neighbors in the Third Ward and across the nation need affordable housing, accessible health care, good jobs, safe schools, mental health support, and real investment in their communities. This is where my focus is, building neighborhoods where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive, where hope is stronger than fear and humanity guides every choice we make.
