🎨✨ Calling all artists!
The City of Grand Rapids is looking for artists to help us honor lives impacted by gun violence through a new public memorial. We aim to create space for healing, reflection and community connection. And as Latesha Lipscomb, our civilian violence prevention and intervention manager, said:
“This memorial will stand as a testament to those lived experiences and create a sacred space where our community can come together, honor their loved ones, and continue the long work of healing.”
The impact of gun violence echoes for years — which is why this space matters so much. 💛🕊️
We’re inviting artists to submit concepts for a durable, three‑dimensional or mixed‑media installation that can be displayed indoors or outdoors. A selection committee made up of survivors, families affected by gun violence, SAFE Task Force members and representatives from the Grand Rapids Police Department will review all proposals and make a recommendation for the proposal that best meets the goals of the project. Budget: up to $20,000.
