From a Year-End Poll to a Statewide Celebration

Back in 2018, stellafly wrapped up the race season with a simple idea — to celebrate Michigan’s endurance community by asking athletes to share their favorites. What started as a fun, end-of-year audience poll quickly grew into something bigger: The FLY Awards.

It returns in its eighth year, a way to honor our favorite athletes, events, and community members who make Michigan’s endurance scene thrive. From trail runs to triathlons, road races to gravel grinders — this is where our community celebrates the best of the best.

Voting ended on on December 1! The TOP 5 were announced on Monday and will be narrowed down to the TOP 3 with winners announced live at online on Tuesday, January 13th.

What a morning!

Thank you to everyone who came out for the 33rd Annual GRPS Turkey Trot presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Downtown Grand Rapids came alive with energy, gratitude, and true community spirit.

Race Day by the Numbers:
• 6,529 runners + walkers
• Hundreds of GRPS student athletes
• Huge food-drive support for the GR community
• Hundreds of volunteers keeping the morning safe + fun

• Top Finishers:

Your participation supports nearly 14,000 GRPS students, fueling health, wellness, and enrichment programs across the district. We’re deeply grateful for this community.

ONE more day, Grand Rapids!

We may see some weather rolling through soon, but the race will go on. It's Michigan! Our Race Director, Stephanie, was out on a media tour yesterday making sure the community is ready for Thanksgiving morning. We’ll keep an eye on the forecast and communicate any updates. Stay tuned to your email and our socials for the latest information. Don't forget those CANNED goods!

There’s still time to get in on the fun. You can STILL register online tonight or onsite tomorrow morning inside, on the 2nd floor of the Van Andel Arena.
