Three brothers. Two parents. One whole lot of Redhawks football.

Between coaching, playing, teaching and cheering from the sidelines, the Syreks have made GRPS Athletics a family affair.

And they're just one example of the families and student-athletes who make up the GRPS community.

Every Thanksgiving morning, thousands of us come together for the Grand Rapids Turkey Trot. Last year, that tradition helped raise more than $275,000 for GRPS Athletics, supporting opportunities for 5,500+ student-athletes across the district.

These are the faces behind the fundraising.

1,000 REGISTERED. 5,500+ REASONS WHY. 🦃

We've officially hit 1,000 registrations for the 2026 Grand Rapids Turkey Trot!

That's 1,000 people already planning to spend Thanksgiving morning with us. And every registration helps support athletic opportunities for more than 5,500 Grand Rapids Public Schools student-athletes.

Last year, together, we raised more than $275,000 for GRPS Athletics.

This year, we're working toward 7,000 participants.

The GRPS Turkey Trot turns 34 this year.

What started more than three decades ago has grown into a Thanksgiving morning tradition with more than 6,500 people joining us last year. And we're not done growing.

For year 34, we've added a 10K and 1-Mile Walk to the 5K and FREE LMCU Mini Trot and we're setting our sights on 7,000 participants this Thanksgiving.
