🐾 MEET PAUL & KATHERINE: A BONDED PAIR WITH A LOVE STORY TO MELT YOUR HEART 🐾

These two came to Second Chance together from the east side of the state after an overcrowded shelter situation — and wherever their story began, one thing is clear: Paul and Katherine are absolutely devoted to each other. 💕

Paul is a ruggedly handsome tuxedo guy who had a rough carrier ride over (he rubbed some fur off his sweet face against the bars!), but he's settled in beautifully and is healing nicely. He's affectionate and chill, eagerly seeking out pets and attention while curiously checking out his new surroundings. Once his fur grows back, his handsome face will match the rest of his shiny black self!

Katherine is a petite, sweet Torbie girl who's a bit more tentative in her new surroundings — she's not hiding, just a little cautious with her new kitty buddies. But when she sees attention being handed out, she wants in! Her loving personality shines more each day, and she's looking for a calm, quiet place to feel safe.

🌾 ADOPTION UPDATE - COOKIE! 🌾

Cookie has adjusted to her new home very quickly. Adopting her has been one of the best decisions we’ve made. She is such wonderful company and has already become a very special part of our family. Whenever we come home, she greets us by rubbing against our legs, which is always so sweet.

Her favorite activities are looking out the window, exploring high places around the house, playing, and of course, sleeping! She is very affectionate and curious, and we love seeing her become more comfortable and confident every day. We’re so happy to have her with us. 🐾❤️

She has been very quick to adapt to our home! I think we will keep her name, also.

🐾 MEET HENRY: THE DAPPER GOLD BOY WITH A HEART FULL OF LOVE 🐾

This handsome brownish-gold tabby came to Second Chance all the way from the east side of the state after his previous shelter became overcrowded. Lucky for us — and soon, lucky for you — because Henry is an absolute sweetheart just waiting to be discovered.

Henry doesn't hold back when it comes to affection. Walk up to him and he'll lean right in, seeking out pets, nuzzling for head kisses, and purring up a storm almost instantly. He's already shown some serious lap-cat potential, and honestly, the more time we spend with him, the more smitten we become. We have a feeling his charm is only going to keep growing — and you'll fall for him just like we have!

🥳 HAPPY TWO YEAR GOTCHA DAY, BUSTER BOBTAIL! 🥳

Buster continues to be a very silly boy! We both work from home, so he enjoys supervising us and reminding us when it's snack time. From Spring through the Fall, Buster's favorite place is our three season room. From there, he monitors the backyard squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and bunnies. They occasionally tease him by coming right up to the windows, but he finds them all very interesting. He does seem annoyed with us when winter comes and the three season room is colder than he would like!

We had houseguests this summer who came with their 2 sweet, goofy Golden Retrievers. At first, Buster was very skittish about them. However, after about a week, he started to get more comfortable with them. He began sniffing them and hanging out in the same room with them. We were very proud of him!

Buster is a big part of our family and we love him very much (even when he gives us a dirty look when we tell him he can't have sausage, as you can see in the second to last photo)!

Thanks again for bringing Buster into our family!

🐾 MEET EUGENE: THE GOOD OL' BOY WHO'S READY FOR HIS SOFT LIFE 🐾

Once a countryside wanderer near a local farm, this handsome (and a little cross-eyed 😉) Siamese mix has traded fence lines and farm fields for something much better: a warm home and a soft bed. Eugene was trapped as a stray, and honestly? He made it easy — turns out this guy was more than ready for a change. Now he's fixed up, vetted, and looking for the safe, predictable indoor life he never knew he needed.

Why you'll love Eugene:

A note on Eugene's health: Eugene is FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). This sounds scarier than it is! FIV+ cats live long, happy, healthy lives — often indistinguishable from FIV-negative cats — especially with regular vet care, good nutrition, and an indoor-only lifestyle. FIV is not spread through shared food/water bowls or litterboxes, and it takes a serious bite wound to transmit between cats. Here at Second Chance, we've placed many FIV+ cats in loving homes, and they coexist peacefully with our other resident kitties every day. Eugene has so much love to give — his status is just one small part of who he is.

We're turning FIVE! 🥳 Join us TODAY, August 23rd as we celebrate our fifth anniversary! It will be an afternoon full of food, fun, and adoptable cats!

🍗 Food from our neighbors, Two Scotts Barbecue, including delicious chicken, pork, and vegan mushrooms!

🍪 Mini-bake sale, pick out your favorite treat for dessert!

🌾ADOPTION UPDATE - PERSIMMON! 🌾

Persimmon is now Pepper! She is doing so well. She is such a snuggle bug. She is eating well ( and eagerly lol). She took only a day or so to warm up and now she is constantly walking between my feet wherever I go lol.

I am so proud of her sister Peach (fka Andrea also from sccwm). While at this very moment she is a bit too scared to play with Pepper, Peach has really come out of her shell. Asking to play with me more, and following me and my roommate around. For MONTHS she just hid away in her corner. She still likes to sit peacefully by Pepper and I am confident they will be besties in time .
