Join us for a unique hands-on cooking and cultural learning experience presented by Anishinaabe Circle at Blandford Nature Center (1715 Hillburn Ave NW Grand Rapids MI 49504)

Guided by traditional teachings from elders and knowledge keepers, this seven-week series reconnects participants with traditional Anishinaabe foods, preparation methods, and the cultural knowledge carried through our foodways. Sessions blend cooking demonstrations with Cam Stott, storytelling, and community dialogue, with guest traditional teachers.

When: Sundays, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Series Dates:
• March 22 – Nixtamal & New Beginnings (Corn) w/ George Martin
• March 29 – One-Pot Wild Rice & Venison Shoulder w/ Kara Wilson
• April 12 – Stories in Every Seed (Squash Ravioli) w/ Punkin Shananaquet
• April 19 – Maple Sugaring & the Gift of Sweetness w/ Paul Raphael
• April 26 – Lacto-Fermentation & Pickling w/ Carly Shananaquet
• May 3 – Foraging & Seasonal Knowledge w/ Kaya DeerInWater

The series concludes with a shared community feast. Each participant will walk away with a weekly cooking bundle, a copy of the Mishomis Book, and a cookbook.

Limited to 15 participants.
Spots will be prioritized for those who can commit to all seven sessions. Participants will be notified by March 2nd if they have a spot. Friendly reminder, this is unfortunately not a kid friendly event based on safety concerns and space. Miigwech for understanding.
