💜 10 YEARS OF RECOVERY! 💜

Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate someone very special to the Mission Restart family, Shandelle Deezy Lynch , our Board Secretary! 🎉

Shandell brings years of experience, knowledge, and lived experience to the table.

But today isn't about her position or her professional accomplishments. Today is about celebrating 10 YEARS of hard work, growth, healing, and RECOVERY! ❤️

Ten years.

Think about what can happen in ten years when someone is given the opportunity to rebuild their life.

In those ten years, Shandell has built a family, created a home, pursued an education, and developed a career dedicated to helping others.

She has gained experience not only as a Peer Recovery Specialist but also as an LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor). She understands the importance of both clinical services and peer recovery support, and how the two can work together to better serve individuals on their recovery journeys.

And that's something we value tremendously at Mission Restart.

We are incredibly grateful to have Shandell serving on our Board of Directors, sharing her knowledge, offering guidance, and helping us continue building an organization rooted in lived experience, compassion, and opportunity.

But more than anything, we're proud of the woman she has worked so hard to become.

Recovery isn't just about what we leave behind. It's about everything we get the opportunity to build along the way.

Shandell, congratulations on 10 YEARS IN RECOVERY! 🎉

Thank you for showing others what's possible, for giving back, and for being part of the Mission Restart family.

This is what recovery can look like. And this is why we do what we do. 💜

Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor Indigenous people, cultures, and stories, past and present. We recognize the hurt carried through generations, along with the strength, resilience, and healing.

We also understand that some people celebrate Columbus Day. We can acknowledge that this day holds different meanings for different people while making room for honest conversations about our history and its impact.

Our history doesn’t have to become a debate over whose pain or heritage matters. We can acknowledge both truths: people may understand this day differently, and the hurt others carry deserves to be heard.

Healing comes from putting the weapons down, listening, and trying to understand one another.

That is at the heart of Nii-Winn Way: A Shared Pathway to Recovery. Our initiative is about healing and remembering that we are walking this earth together. We can’t change the past, but we can choose how we treat each other today and how we move forward together.

There is room to honor where we come from and take responsibility for where we go next. A shared pathway begins with each of us. 🧡

Part of the team spent the morning with our friends in Cass Lake for the 2nd Annual Wecovery Walk. And we got to all sing happy birthday to Phajej Lee (cheng). I think having that many people sing to him on his day will be a memory he holds onto forever. 🤣
