Doberman Rescue of North Texas Doberman Rescue of North Texas, Inc. is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers. We adopt throughout TX/OK/AR and into some parts of LA & NM!

Doberman Rescue of North Texas places purebred unwanted or abandoned Doberman Pinschers in loving homes. Most of the Dobermans we rescue come from shelters in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Each dog is checked by a vet, given all shots, tested for heartworms, spayed or neutered, treated for any illnesses or medical problems that are found, and micro-chipped. Without exception, all dogs are spayed or neutered before they are adopted out. The dogs come to live at Doberhof, our Doberman-only private shelter in Grand Prairie which accommodates up to 22 dogs in 11 air-conditioned and heated runs with comfortable beds and classical music. Doberman Rescue of North Texas, Inc., is a non-profit Texas corporation run entirely by volunteers with no paid staff. It is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charity. For most people this means that donations made to Doberman Rescue of North Texas, Inc., are tax deductible.

💔 Look at his face. This is what fear looks like.

This picture was taken a few days ago when this boy came into our rescue, terrified of just about everything. His expression says so much, even though we may never know what he has been through or what made the world feel so frightening to him.

One of our volunteers offered him a pup cup, hoping to help him feel just a little more comfortable while we tried to get pictures for our website. 🍦❤️ Sometimes, rescue looks like sitting quietly with a scared dog, offering a small treat, and letting him take things at his own pace.

Somewhere along the way, a human or humans may have failed him. We don’t know his whole story, but we know this: it’s not his fault that he’s scared.

At Doberman Rescue of North Texas, we see all kinds of dogs come through our doors. The scared ones. The neglected and abused ones. The medical cases. The ones who have been let down by the very people who should have protected them.

Not every dog arrives happy, confident, and ready to trust. Some arrive unsure, overwhelmed, and afraid of the world around them. They don’t need us to rush them. They need us to show them, with patience and compassion, that they are safe.

Please don’t overlook a dog because he is scared. Please don’t mistake fear for a bad dog. The way a dog reacts to the world may be a reflection of what they’ve experienced, not who they truly are.

Every dog deserves a chance to heal. Every dog deserves to feel safe. And every dog deserves the opportunity to learn that not all humans will hurt them.

We can’t change what happened before they came to us, but we can help change what happens next. 🐾❤️

🐾 Meet Chowder — A Heart That’s Finally Learning What Love Feels Like! ❤️

At just 2 years old, Chowder has already been through more than any dog should have to endure. He and a fawn-colored female companion were found as strays and brought to a local shelter, both severely underweight and in desperate need of help. 💔

But Chowder’s story is taking a beautiful turn! 🥹❤️

He’s steadily gaining weight, growing stronger, and finally learning that he doesn’t have to worry about where his next meal will come from or whether he’s safe. In his foster home, he’s discovering the joys of being loved, having a cozy place to rest, and simply being a dog.

And guess what? Chowder is loving the good life! 🏡🐾 He’s learning all the ropes of living in a home, and we think he’s catching on to this whole being spoiled and loved thing pretty quickly! 😉 From life on the streets to the comfort of a foster home, he’s getting a taste of what every dog deserves.

Now, Chowder is ready for his next chapter — a forever family who will continue helping him blossom, show him endless love, and give him the happy, secure life he’s always deserved. ❤️

This handsome 78-lb boy is being surrendered, and we need someone to step up and give him a safe place to land! 🐾❤️

With his unique white blaze, he’s a real head-turner! 🤍 Here’s what we know about him so far:

🐶 Crate trained
💉 Current on all vaccinations

Through no fault of his own, this boy is facing a big change, and we want to make sure his next chapter is a happy one.

We need a foster to open their heart and home to him! Fostering gives us the ability to help dogs like him and work toward finding them the loving forever families they deserve.

Looking for a little shadow with four paws, a big heart, and a serious love for belly rubs? Meet Bisque! 🥰

At just 1½ years old, this Dobie girl is everything you love about a Velcro Doberman! She wants to be wherever her humans are, whether that means snuggling on the couch, soaking up belly rubs, or curling up close for some quality cuddle time. ❤️ Her favorite place? Right beside YOU!

🐾 A few things to know about Bisque:
💕 Certified snuggle bug and couch-loving queen
💕 Crate trained, though she’d much rather snooze on the couch
💕 Knows sit and is ready to keep learning

Just days ago, Gwen was only minutes away from losing her life.

On Saturday, a team of incredible volunteers stepped up, driving from New Braunfels and working together to get her safely to DRNT. Because of them, Gwen’s story didn’t end at a shelter—it started a brand-new chapter.

Along her freedom ride, Gwen got to experience things every dog deserves. She stopped at Tractor Supply for a much-needed bath, met some sweet young children she absolutely adored, and even enjoyed her very first pup cup from 7 Brew Coffee. At first, she wasn’t quite sure what to think about it… now she’s convinced pup cups are one of life’s greatest treasures. And honestly? She deserves every single one.

What stands out most about Gwen isn’t what she’s been through—it’s who she is. She is incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate. She’s a true Velcro Doberman who wants nothing more than to lean into you, rest her head against you, and be by your side. Despite hours of travel and multiple transport stops, she rode like a perfect lady the entire way.

It’s hard to imagine this loving, grateful girl came so close to never getting her chance.

Now Gwen is safe. Now she is loved. Now she just needs the forever family she has always deserved.

Thank you to every volunteer who played a part in saving her life. Because of you, Gwen gets a tomorrow. ❤️🐾
