We have collection boxes for eyeglasses at the Hub, Grand Marais State Bank, and Grand Marais State Bank of Tofte.

You don't need to know the prescription. We send them to a facility in Wisconsin that tests and labels them for donation.

October marks the start of Vision Awareness month! LCIF is dedicated to improving the lives of the visually impaired and preventing avoidable blindness.

We decided that Walter is such the goodest boy, that he needs a new award - The Lionhearted Puppy.

Walter's owner is Sara Knottski, the K/1 teacher at Birch Grove. Walter is a therapy dog, and comes to school with her everyday unless he has appointments or isn't feeling well - just like the kids. Walter is at his place at the entrance of school to greet kids every morning. He has a set schedule so that he is shared with all the classrooms. If he is needed somewhere else for a stressed kid (or staff), he is sent there. He is literally the best!

Another teacher's mom breeds Goldens, and she gifted Walter to the school to train as a therapy dog. Liberty K9 Rescue Ranch gifted them all of his training. Please congratulate Walter for being a Lionhearted member of our community!
