We thought this was also a pertinent link about real stories of improved mental health due to disc golf: https://www.pdga.com/news/they-said-it-disc-golf-mental-health

From fresh air, physical activity to the community aspect of the sport, disc golf provides a wide-ranging list of mental health benefits. Some called it nature therapy, a chance to get outside in the fresh air away from the stresses of daily life. Others enjoyed setting attainable goals and working....

Haiku Wednesday :-)
Good people disc golf
Can happen with your support
Little by little

What a glorious summer living in the presence of mother superior!

We were fortunate to play a round of disc golf on National Disc Golf Day (first Saturday in August). In between trips to the Cities, we 'chinged-it and dinged-it' with a couple of old and new friends.

Where did you get out to play on National Disc Golf Day?

** We were invited to set up a private lakeside course for the weekend - family in town and they all brought discs! Here are some pics of the "Par 2" course :-)

We want to play with everyone and we want everyone to play! We need a public disc golf course in Cook County, MN.

To this end, we are hosting our first 'official', unofficial get-together. Please join us at Voyageur Brewing Company, Wednesday, August 2, 2023. We simply can't slay this beast ourselves - we need your help! 4:30pm-6pm. We'll be in the upper deck outside if the weather is good - otherwise inside, rain or shine. Intros, a brief overview of goals, drink beers, simple conversations with good people...

We are asking for a little help from as many people as possible...many hands makes the work easier. It's okay if you don't or haven't played...in fact, we'll buy you a beer if you show up and are thirsty for a barley-pop. If you can't make it, write to us and let us know how to best get you involved!

Thank you

Haiku Wednesday
Time to go to work
Help us build a disc golf world
For the Good People

We think its time to get-together and meet one another and focus our energy on getting disc baskets in the ground in Cook County, Minnesota.

Meeting date and location TBA - we are shooting for a weekday next week at 5pm-6'ish... and a re-occurring weekly get-together through August to start. Goal: Organizing more formally as a group.

* we share these images to address potential visitor demand for disc golf Minnesota, and specifically Cook County. Interest in disc golf is strongest among our allied tourism populations in adjacent states, so it seems to make sense to 'play' to that ;-)

We are having a great week exploring partnerships and visions. A special thank you to the crew at Dragon Hills Disc Golf & Ball Golf Course in Thunder Bay. This Disc Golf Course is hosting the 2023 Canadian National Disc Golf Championships August 4 -7 . Call the clubhouse to learn more about the event - 807-768-8633 ask for Denise. Thanks Mike and Alyssa!
We also played a round of disc golf at Birch Point in Thunder Bay, a classic manicured park setting. At 1pm on a cool, overcast Tuesday, the course was being played by 5 or 6 groups representing a full spectrum of old and young players. It was awesome. Met some great people - Canadiens are the gold standard for hospitality!
