We had a wonderful weekend at Wildlife Conservation Network’s Expo in San Francisco! We met so many amazing people who share our passion and mission for conservation. We even ran into our friends from Volcanoes Safaris!

🌿🦍 Hike for Hope at Lake Nkuruba Nature Reserve 🦍🌿

Today, the Kibale Forest Schools Program (KFSP), together with the Kibale Chimpanzee Project (KCP) and the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), joined the global Hike for Hope celebration with a conservation hike at Lake Nkuruba Nature Reserve.

Wildlife Club members and patrons enjoyed a guided hike and nature walk, exploring the forest while learning about chimpanzee habitats, biodiversity, and the importance of protecting natural forests. Participants were also engaged in chimpanzee conservation talks, reflecting on Dr. Jane Goodall’s legacy and her powerful message of hope through action.

Students from four KFSP-affiliated schools showcased their creativity through chimpanzee artwork, expressing their understanding of chimpanzees, forests, and conservation.

The Hike for Hope brought together learning, nature, creativity, and community, inspiring young people to become conservation ambassadors and take action to protect chimpanzees, forests, and communities. 💚🌍

We’re thrilled to share that Kasiisi Project has been selected as a first‑time exhibitor at Wildlife Conservation Network’s 2026 Fall Wildlife Conservation Expo on October 10th in San Franciso!

This global gathering brings together some of the world’s most respected conservation organizations, and we’re honored to stand alongside them. At the Expo, we’ll be sharing our story, celebrating the incredible work happening in Kibale’s forest‑edge communities, and connecting with people who care deeply about wildlife, education, and community‑driven conservation. We're delighted to add that Dr. Richard Wrangham, Founder of the Kibale Chimpanzee Project and Dr. Elizabeth Ross, Founder of the Kasiisi Project will join us at Expo!

Being part of WCN’s Fall Expo is an exciting opportunity to build new partnerships, strengthen long‑term connections, and amplify the impact of our programs for Kibale National Park and its chimpanzees.

🌍 Wrapping Up World Chimpanzee Day/week 2026 🐵💚

What an inspiring week of celebrating our closest living relatives!

This World Chimpanzee Day, we collaborated with our wildlife clubs, conservation stakeholders, and local communities to raise awareness about the importance of protecting chimpanzees and their forest habitat.

To wrap up the celebrations, our Wildlife Clubs hosted experts from the Kibale Chimpanzee Project and the Uganda Wildlife Authority, who shared valuable insights into chimpanzee behavior and health, emphasizing the need for their protection and conservation. The discussions raised awareness about the dangers of setting snares in Kibale National Park.

Through a mix of engaging classroom and outdoor sessions, students conveyed chimpanzee conservation messages creatively, using poems, posters they crafted, dances, songs, and skits.
These interactions inspire future conservation leaders and are a highlight of our annual events.

We extend our gratitude to the Uganda Wildlife Authority, Kibale Chimpanzee Project, Snare Removal Team, wildlife veterinarians, our wildlife clubs, and all partners for their support in making this year’s celebrations a success.

In partnership with the Kibale Chimpanzee Project, we're bringing conservation to life across all 16 of our partner schools through fun, interactive learning that inspires the next generation of wildlife champions.
