Space to Create Grand Lake is accepting applications for nine affordable live/work residences in the heart of the Grand Lake Creative District. Studio and one-bedroom units starting at $1,100/month, each with an adjoining commercial storefront included in rent. Steps from the lake. Next door to the brand new Grand Spirit Makerspace.

This is affordable housing built specifically for people who make things, and it doesn't come around often in a mountain town like Grand Lake.

Bill Swartz has spent decades photographing this community. June 9th he shares the stories behind the images, starting with 1963: the '57 Chevy adventures, the Holiday Pancake House, the Foghorn. The kind of Grand Lake that lives in long-timers' memories and deserves to live in everyone else's too.

Free to attend, dessert provided, donations welcome. Tuesday, June 9 | 6:30–7:30 PM | Community House in Town Park

The best fairy tales don't happen in a kingdom far, far away. They happen in a small mountain town on a summer night.

Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre opens its 2026 season tonight with Shrek the Musical - an ogre who just wants to be left alone, a donkey who absolutely will not leave him alone, and a princess with a secret that turns the whole fairy tale upside down. Smart, hilarious, and surprisingly moving.

Tickets are available online at rockymountainrep.com/play/shrek-the-musical or at the box office today from noon until showtime. First performance is 7:30 PM.

Grand Lake summers and live theatre. There's nothing quite like it. πŸ’š

The Kauffman House Museum is open for the season, and if you haven't been inside yet, this is the summer to go.

Ezra Kauffman first came to Grand Lake in 1877 as a hunting guide. He built this hotel in 1892 and raised his family here. Today the Grand Lake Historical Society preserves that story, and the volunteer docents who welcome you inside know it well. From the parlor to the upstairs bedrooms, every room holds something worth pausing over.

Stop in and soak up some history!

Grand Lake made history yesterday. πŸŽ€βœ‚οΈ

Thank you to every person who came out to celebrate the grand opening of Grand Spirit Makerspace. This building has been a long time coming, and filling it with this community for the first time made it real in a way nothing else could.

πŸͺ΅ Wood Turning Workshops return - June 5 & 6 | Limited spots remaining
πŸ‘Ÿ Custom Sandal-Making Workshop with Running Sandals - Sunday, June 7 | The first of its kind in Grand Lake!

If you've driven down Park Avenue lately, you've seen it - Space to Create is in its final stretch. The exteriors are getting their finishing touches, landscaping is going in, and the boardwalk extension is taking shape along the street.

These live/work units are a long time coming for Grand Lake, Colorado's creative community. Affordable, dedicated space for artists and makers to live and work in the heart of town. This is what building a creative district actually looks like.

The first application period for these unique live/work rental units was held in March, occupancy is expected in late Summer 2026. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to completion.

The Grand Spirit Makerspace had a big weekend.

Instructors Matt Paisley and Dennis Fanning filled the space with leatherworking and woodworking equipment. Rolling workbenches are in place, machines are finding their spots, filling with the tools that will teach this summer's classes.

It's not done yet. But it's getting there fast.

Join us for the Grand Opening on Saturday, May 23 from 12-2pm. Tour the space, enjoy light refreshments, and celebrate with us at the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1pm.

The Grand Spirit Makerspace will support woodworking, leatherworking, silversmithing, and boat building for class attendees of Rocky Mountain Folk School.
