From equine therapy and service programs to pet assistance, and honoring veterans through Quilts of Valor, the Trutta Fund to Support Veterans is helping strengthen the lives of veterans across Western Colorado.

Last year’s grants supported organizations and projects including Hope 'N Horses, Grand Valley Pets Alive, Quilts of Valor Foundation, and Huts for Vets, collectively serving hundreds of veterans and their families across our region.

The Trutta Fund is now accepting applications for 2026 grant funding through July 17. Eligible organizations serving veterans in Mesa, Delta, Garfield, and Montrose counties are encouraged to apply.

Local Community Fund Highlight!

With support from the West Elk Community Fund, North Fork Senior Connections delivered 560 quarts of soup to 70 seniors, powered by nearly 300 volunteer hours and strong local partnerships.

More than a meal, this program created connection, care, and regular check-ins for some of the community’s most vulnerable neighbors.

This is the power of the West Elk Community Fund, managed by Western Colorado Community Foundation, where local generosity stays local and supports Paonia, Hotchkiss, and Crawford.

We are pleased to support Roice-Hurst Humane Society, which has been connecting animals to their forever homes for over 60 years.

There was 4-legged help yesterday at their groundbreaking event for their Animal Care Campus, which will provide for more spay/neuter and veterinary services for the greater community.

As longtime supporters of RH, we could not be happier to see this next step in their growth and ability to respond to the needs in Mesa County.
