Boy Scouts of America-Troop 328 (Grand Junction, CO)

Boy Scouts of America-Troop 328 (Grand Junction, CO) Troop 328 serves boys who are 11-17 years old. We also have a Cub Scout Pack on-site for K-5th graders. Our Scout Troop is for all kids, ages 11 to 18.

Reach out to confirm our next meeting date and time - we meet most Monday evenings at Orchard Mesa Baptist Church. Meetings are at Orchard Mesa Baptist Church, our charter organization, at 6:30pm on Mondays with the exception of a few holidays, and all meetings are open to visitors. Troop #328 is a premier adventure-focused Troop of over 50 years, that enjoys weekly activities throughout the year.

We camp year-round, with at least one outing a month, including a regular 1-week Summer Camp program. We do a mix of Backpacking, Canoe, and standard camping events. Troop #328 is a "Scout-Led" Troop, focusing on developing a love for the outdoors and youth leadership by giving Scouts the responsibility for managing many of their activities using the Patrol Method. Our Troop host a Monthly Patrol Leaders Council where the Scouts decide and design their weekly meetings and monthly outings. Troop #328 also has strong adult leadership. Our Scoutmaster Corps is filled with veterans of scouting and the US Military, and it works directly with the Scouts at meetings and campouts. Our Troop Committee meets monthly to manage the troop finances and guide the troop's direction. If you have any further questions, please post to our wall and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Scouts not only recite the Scout Oath every week when they meet but living it out is of the utmost importance. On the Saturday before Easter, scouts demonstrated "duty to God" by helping Orchard Mesa Baptist Church set up for their annual Easter Egg Dash and showing those in attendance that scouting is active in our community!

Weekend camping trip to Goblin Valley did not disappoint! Climbing on and exploring the sandstone goblins at Goblin Valley State Park both in the daylight and at night with headlamps and glowsticks was a highlight. Can't beat stargazing at a certified International Dark Sky Park and marvel at just how big the universe is. For most scouts, it was their first time hiking Little Wild Horse Slot Canyon and the consensus was that it was awesome and amazing! Seeing how the power of water has formed the slot canyon produces a greater appreciation of nature and also a respect for it knowing you don't want to get caught in the flash floods that have helped carve this beautiful slot canyon. The campout had a few challenges, but the scouts braved the high winds at the campsite and water in the slot canyon in true scouting style - working together as a team!

March campout at Crystal Geyser along the Green River in Utah. Spent time hiking and seeing arches, petroglyphs and a cave along with beautiful striped canyon walls. The geyser only erupted for a short time during the first night we were there. It didn't shoot very high, but was fun to witness since it erupts so sporadically.

Patrols went head-to-head last night in a friendly cook off competition. The Electric Firebirds patrol fried their own donuts and then dipped them in a sweet cinnamon and sugar mixture. The Bullsnakes patrol made a combination of plain and chocolate crepes wrapped with strawberries and bananas inside and drizzled in chocolate and topped with whipped cream. The adult leaders and parents in attendance served as the judges. The decision was a tough one as both treats were delicious! But in the end, the Bullsnakes won the competition with their scrumptious crepes and excellent presentation of them. Way to go scouts on working together as a team to show off your cooking skills!

Troop 328 helped with the Sunday service at Orchard Mesa Baptist Church today to celebrate Scout Sunday 2026. The Scouting program is more than just an activity for our youth to learn about the outdoors. Scouting provides fun, fellowship and training to our youth while emphasizing honesty, self-reliance and respect. Through a year-round program, it affects character, citizenship and personal fitness. But the success of our Scouting depends on our volunteers, who serve in a variety of leadership roles so that our young people may benefit from our Scouting ministry. As Scouting America celebrates its anniversary, we recognize our volunteers who serve as Scoutmasters and Committee Members in support of our troop. We also thank Orchard Mesa Baptist Church for supporting our scouting program!

January is National Mental Wellness month so when the scouts picked pottery as their focus this month, it was very fitting. It is widely recognized that working with your hands can be therapeutic because it physically affects our mood and can reduce stress. The scouts got a good dose of this during a 5-hour pottery class. They each made a slab, pinch and coil pot and a sculpture as well as a small bowl or vase on a mini pottery wheel. They are looking forward to painting and decorating their projects after they come out of the kiln. The scouts enjoyed learning a new skill all while doing something healthy for their mind and wellbeing!
