I was looking through ads on Craigslist looking for used Lego's and I came across an ad for Micah Montag who is battling a terminal inoperable brain stem tumor, I decided to reach out to the fb community to show support for this young warrior. Micah's condition started as any other happy delightful child full of life, love, and wonder. Then he started to get headaches and dizzy spells. Thinking he
probably had an ear infection, he was taken to the doctor. Nobody was prepared for the diagnosis, “massive brain stem tumor, inoperable, terminal”. He was rushed from Grand Junction CO to Denver Children’s Hospital that day, Jan. 14, 2014, and it was confirmed he had a rare DIPG tumor, with no chance of survival. Brain stem tumors are perhaps the most dreaded cancers in pediatric oncology, owing to their historically poor prognosis. Since then, Micah has endured the maximum radiation treatments which have shrunk the tumor for the moment. He was near death several times, --once where all treatment was stopped and he was rushed home to see his friends, family and pets one more time, if he made it the 4 1/2 hour trip over the mountains. Unfortunately the radiation treatments he had only shrink the tumor temporarily, and will keep him living a few more weeks or months, nobody really knows.The tumor is very aggressive and when it comes back, there is nothing else the doctors can do. Since that dreadful diagnosis, it has been a full time job for both parents to take care of him. His dad has been doing exhaustive research on any alternative methods that may save his son's life. His mom prepares all organic foods and juices and tries to give him the most nourishing diet possible. It is so painful to watch this brave fight for Micah's life knowing no child has ever survived this. What I didn't realize was the medical expenses were accumulating and Micahs dad hasn't been able to work since this happened. We ask that you send Legos and Letters to Micah as it brightens up is day as he is home confined. Anything is welcomed, and maybe you could share this with your church, or friends and neighbors to contribute as well. Please do what you can. They are such a wonderful loving family.
