Colombia Post # 4 (last post)

Our last stop was the city of San Pedro. I gave six messages again about biblical counseling. Then, the Lord opened a door for me to speak in the public high school to over 300 teens. We had been scheduled to fly back to Medellin that day, so we rearranged airfare to stay an extra day to teach at the school.

We appreciate all of you who supported this mission trip through your prayers and financial support! Pray that the seeds we planted will be watered by the Holy Spirit in each heart.

Colombia Post # 3

We then traveled to Belén de Bajirá, in the state of Chocó. I spoke at a very fun and lively church at 9:00 at night. The music was wonderful! Apparently, they meet several times a week for services that run late into the evening. Then, over the next two days, I gave six messages to church leaders and members to teach about biblical counseling.

Colombia Post # 2

Next, we went to Villavicencio where we stayed at a wonderful Christian camp. God allowed us to go into four public schools and two Christian schools to teach teens how to build relationships with compassion. Topics included how to communicate with friends (including when they are in conflict or being bullied), and at home (even in angry situations). I also talked about dating with older kids. I taught them that life isn’t about how many people love you, it’s about how many people you love. Teens (and adults) care too much about what people think of them. In Villavicencio, I spoke to over 800 kids over a couple of days. I could not talk about God in the public schools, but I gave them biblical, loving principles to live by. The churches in the area will follow up by inviting the teens to church events.

In the evening in Villavicencio, I did a two-part parenting presentation at a couple’s night out where a wonderful meal was served.

This is the first post of our mission trip. More to follow!

We just got back from a mission trip to Colombia. My friend, Mary Motter, accompanied me on this journey, for which I will always be grateful. I give many thanks to Andrew Stringer, the missionary in Colombia, who worked so hard to organize the speaking events. I also thank Johana and Paul, Andrew’s wife and son, for their hard work and loving support. There are many others to thank, from the women who cooked wonderful meals, to the church pastors and congregants who organized each event, and Angelica who helped translate.

In Medellin, we held a three-day conference with pastors and church leaders from several different churches representing several cities. I taught eight messages on how to counsel their people biblically. Andrew translated for me.

Mary connected with Great Commission Alliance before we left Grand Junction, and they provided 200 Gospel tracts in Spanish. They printed them in Medellin and had them delivered to our hotel. Mary had fun giving these to Uber drivers, waitresses, and hotel maids as she shared the Good News of Christ. She also had plenty to give to pastors and leaders to use in their congregations.

Mary and I have had an amazing and busy time in Columbia. We went to three cities. Medellin, Bucaramanga, and Barranquilla. God opened many doors for me to speak at church services and smaller church groups about depression, anxiety, etc., and how God's Word is sufficient to counsel. The response was amazing. I'm so blessed to bring light to dark places.

Righteous anger is always for the good of others. Unrighteous anger, or the anger of man, is always about self. When you're selfishly angry it doesn't help anyone. 🙂
