"No voice is too soft when that voice speaks for others." - Janna Cachola

Seeing one of our Members advocating for another - may that be their friend, child, partner, or a stranger - feels full circle. πŸ’™

Our alumni have navigated systems that didn't always advocate for them. And yet, so many of them turn around and become the loudest voices in the room for someone else.

That is strength. That is community. That is what FAM is all about.

We want to hear from you: What are some ways you've been an advocate for another person - or for yourself? Drop it in the comments below. πŸ‘‡

You matter. You are not alone. πŸ’™

A gentle reminder for anyone who needs it today:

Healing isn't linear. πŸ’™

Some days you'll feel like you've come so far. Others will feel like you've taken ten steps back.

Both are part of the process. Neither means you've failed.

Healing is messy and nonlinear and deeply personal. There's no timeline you're supposed to be on. There's no finish line you're behind on reaching.

You're doing it. Even on the hard days. Especially on the hard days.

Be patient with yourself. We're patient with you too. πŸ’™

You matter. You are not alone.

🐌 "I don't need to win the race, I'm training at my own pace."

And honestly? That's the whole point.

Our FAM .5K in October isn't about speed or competition...it's about showing up. For yourself. At your own pace. In your own way.

Whether you walk, shuffle, or full-on snail it across the finish line, you belong here.

Mark your calendars!

When this member joined FAM, they were navigating the difficult transition into adulthood; starting college, working full-time, learning to live independently, and taking responsibility for their own future, all while continuing to support and stay connected to their siblings who remain in foster care. Their journey has not been easy. They have faced discrimination, personal challenges, and the pressure of balancing school, work, relationships, and everyday life. But when life pushed against them, they pushed back. Even on the hardest days, they continued to show up; for work, for school, for the people they love, and most importantly, for themselves.

Since joining FAM, we have watched this member build stability, confidence, and balance in their life. Their dedication at work has led to an exciting opportunity to train for a management position, bringing increased responsibility and a significant pay raise. They have also continued growing personally, building meaningful relationships and recently becoming engaged; a milestone they were excited to celebrate with their mentor. FAM is incredibly proud of the determination and growth this member has shown. Their story reminds us that resilience isn't about never struggling; it's about continuing to move forward, even when the path is difficult. They are not simply navigating adulthood, they are building a life and future they can be proud of.

We just want to take a moment to say thank you. πŸ’™

To the Mesa County community - thank you for showing up for foster care alumni in ways big and small.

Every donation. Every item dropped off at The Inspired Starfish. Every post shared. Every event attended. Every person who said "I want to help" and meant it.

You are the reason FAM can do what we do. You are the reason our Members feel less alone. You are the reason this community is something special.

Mesa County, we are so proud to call this home. πŸ’™

Can we be honest with you for a second? πŸ’™

Nobody has it all figured out.

Not the person who looks put together on social media. Not the one with the steady job and the nice apartment. Not even us.

Adulthood is something everyone is figuring out as they go. And for foster care alumni who had to start that journey without a roadmap or a safety net - the fact that you're navigating it at all is remarkable.

You don't have to have all the answers. You just have to take the next step.

And we'll be right here walking alongside you. πŸ’™

What is one way you can help support young adults transitioning out of foster care and help them achieve their dreams? πŸ’™

Did you know?

Many young adults aging out of foster care go on to achieve incredible things - pursuing higher education, starting businesses, building strong and supportive communities, and becoming advocates for others.

They don't need to be saved. They need to be supported, believed in, and given the same opportunities everyone else takes for granted.

Here's a question for you: What is one way YOU could show up for a foster care alumnus in Mesa County?

Drop your answer in the comments below - let's spread some inspiration and ideas! πŸ‘‡πŸ’™

Thursday thought for you πŸ’™

Not every day is going to be a big leap forward. Some days the win is just getting out of bed. Making one phone call. Eating a real meal. Showing up when you didn't feel like it.

Those days count too.

Progress isn't always loud. Sometimes it's quiet and steady and invisible to everyone but you.

But it's still progress. And you're still moving forward.

Keep going. We're proud of you. πŸ’™
