Big thanks to for their Willow Pole Planting training yesterday out at the Lunch Loops area!

Great volunteer turnout and representatives from and came to learn and lend a hand.

If you see some barren sticks along the stream bed there, please note they are the result of these hard working volunteers to repopulate the area with native species 🌱

Stay tuned for more trainings and events to get involved with on the website at www.westslopeoutdoorvolunteers.org 🖥️

Shout out to our partners and the Grand Junction, CO Broadband ✨

The Grand Junction broadband starts on the west at the Colorado Utah border, on the north to Garfield county, east to Deb, and South to Delta. They are pleased to have the northern San Juan broadband to the south and share some members with them.

Some of their past and ongoing projects include:

-Commenting on the proposed Resource Management Plan (RMP) for the National Forest Service covering the Grand Mesa Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests
-wilderness monitoring for both the National Forest Service and the BLM field office
-cooperative letterwriting campaigns for environmental advocacy
-Stewardship projects of receding and replanting on clothes trails after collecting native seed during the summer months
-Partnering with Mount Garfield eighth graders, BLM, Colorado, Archaeological Society, and the Northern Ute Tribe for a field day, learning about the value and preservation of rock art

This is a break from our weekly partner features to give a big THANK YOU to our funders at the Western Colorado Community Foundation ( ) and their award from the McCary Family Fund!

Their initial funds helped make their initial concept for the stewardship collaborative a reality. We were able to organize our non-profit partners and grow this into what it is today: a resource for community members to find public lands stewardship events on the Western Slope all in one place.✨

We hope this year to continue growing and expanding our community partnership by hosting joint events, trainings, and more to the folks who are passionate about these Colorado landscapes!

To learn more about this foundation’s efforts to connect people who care with causes that matter, visit wc-cf.org.

The Western Colorado Community Foundation serves seven counties in Western Colorado, managing charitable funds for community good. Currently, the Community Foundation manages over 300 charitable funds totaling over $145 million in assets and awards over $5.5 million in grants and scholarships annually.

This week we are featuring our friends at ✨

Their mission is to restore riparian (riverside) ecosystems through education, collaboration, and technical assistance.

Some of the awesome things they do:
☑️ restoring biodiversity to critical riverside ecosystems across the West by coordinating projects on the ground and leading restoration partnerships (like us👋🏻)
☑️ connecting youth to rivers with hands-on river education programming
☑️ nurturing a sense of river stewardship within our communities through their volunteer program
☑️ training river restoration professionals at their workshops and conferences (they have one coming up!)
☑️ providing restoration resources that track and share the best techniques to restore riverside ecosystems 🌱

Their annual Riparian Restoration Conference is coming up March 5-7th in Grand Junction, CO. Check out their website www.riversedgewest.org to register today!

Thank you for all that you do for the riparian corridors on the Western slope! 👏🏻
