Cosmopolitan Club Fireworks - Grand Island The Club That Fights Diabetes Lifeline units for persons living with diabetes are also financially supported through Grand Island St. Francis Hospital.

The mission of Cosmopolitan International is to contribute to community well-being through charitable donations and volunteer service with special emphasis on supporting efforts to prevent and find a cure for diabetes. The local chapter of Platte River Cosmopolitans carries out this mission by supporting Nebraska Methodist Nursing College’s Mobile Diabetes Center which provides free diabetes screening and other health risk testing and education to communities and individuals that may not have adequate access to such care or information. Platte River Cosmopolitan Club also provides scholarship support for youth living with Type 1 Diabetes to experience summer camp at Camp Floyd Rogers near Gretna, NE. The local club has also had a long history of sponsoring girls softball teams and other charitable causes within the community. Major fundraisers to support these efforts include annual fireworks sales and concession sales at events such as Art in the Park, Harvest of Harmony Parade, and Downtown Christmas Celebration.
