Grand Island Partnership for the Arts

Grand Island Partnership for the Arts Benefit of Public Art Programs
An explanation of Public Art:
Public art is not an art form. Its size can be huge or small.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in our community, inspire a passion for the arts and elevate economic vitality of Grand Island by facilitating the advancement of high quality public art accessible to all residents and visitors. It can tower fifty feet high or call attention to the pavement beneath your feet. Its shape can be abstract or realistic (or both), and it may be cast, carved

, built, assembled, or painted. It can be site specific or stand in contrast to its surroundings. What distinguishes public art is the unique association of how it is made, where it is, and what it means. Public art can express community values, enhance our environment, transform a landscape, heighten our awareness and so much more. With this description in mind - Public art does so much to enhance a community, the pride in community for its residents as well as visitors to town whether they be friends, relatives or business associates. This will now and continue to be the mission of Grand Island Partnership for the Arts - promoting more public art in our great community. Inspiring a passion for the arts and elevating the economic vitality of Grand Island far into the future with the advancement of public art projects. All projects supported by GIPA are meant to enhance our community greatly as everyone sees the pride that exists here in our boundless community.
