The Little Red Reading Bus

The Little Red Reading Bus rolls through the streets of Grand Forks from June to mid-August! Our free

The Grand Forks Foundation for Education is excited to announce the establishment of “The Little Red Reading Bus,” a mobile library that will make books available to children throughout our community when school is not in session, beginning in June 2016. The project is a collaborative effort between community organizations, including the Grand Forks Foundation for Education, the Grand Forks Public

Schools, the Grand Forks Public Library, and the Grand Forks Park District. A library on wheels, the “The Little Red Reading Bus” aligns with the Grand Forks Public Schools’ RED (Read Every Day Program). The mission of RED is to inspire children to discover the joy of reading so it becomes a lifelong habit, and engage families and caregivers in their child’s literacy development. The goal of “The Little Red Reading Bus” is to provide children access to a large variety of books, decrease summer reading loss, increase reading achievement, and provide a fun summer activity for children, one that promotes the love of reading. Community fundraising for “The Little Red Reading Bus” will begin on Giving Hearts Day, held February 11, 2016. 📚Ready to Return Your Little Red Reading Bus Books?📚

Thank you for a wonderful summer of reading adventures with the Little Red Reading Bus! If you still have books to return, here are a few easy ways to get them back to us:

🔴 Drop them off at the Mark Sanford Education Center (GFPS District Office.) Look for the book return crate just inside the main entrance!
🏫 Send them with your child to their school library once school starts ( students only.)
📖 Return them to the Grand Forks Public Library!

There is no rush, continue to enjoy the stories! You can return them when you're ready. We’re so grateful for all the amazing readers who joined us this summer!❤️

Great Night tonight at River Cities Speedway: Bus Races and More! Rydell Crew, consisting of Tristian Morowski and Jeff Tarr, will handle the Pace Activities! Great to have The Little Red Reading Bus along for the Festivities!

More Race Info: It's School Bus Night at RCS tonight, plus racing action, featuring the WISSOTA Late Models, Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks.
Race time is set for 7pm.

That’s a wrap on another AMAZING summer with the Little Red Reading Bus! ❤️🚌

From storytime and guest readers to creative projects, big smiles, and lots (and LOTS!) of books, we had the best summer!

We celebrated the end of our summer with an evening full of root beer floats, cupcakes, and bingo card prize drawings. A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make our 10th summer of the Little Red Reading Bus one to remember.

We’re already counting down to next summer! Until then… keep reading, keep dreaming, and keep those pages turning! 📚✨

🚒📚 The Little Red Reading Bus had a special guest reader at Elks Park last week! A big thank you to Grand Forks Fire Department Deputy Chief Brian Geatz for sharing a few fun stories and spending time with our young readers. We love seeing our community come together to make reading fun!

One more summer celebration before school starts! Join us for our Little Red Reading Bus End of the Summer Party this Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 PM at Lincoln Park!

Enjoy 🍦 root beer floats, 🧁 cupcakes, and 🎁 our bingo card drawing for fun prizes! It's our way of celebrating an amazing summer of reading, learning, and fun. We can't wait to see you there!

We had a glowing good time at University Park yesterday! 🔥

Our young artists created colorful campfire masterpieces using crinkled tin foil and bright red and yellow paint to bring their flames to life.

Thanks to everyone who joined us. We can’t wait to see you at the next Little Red Reading Bus stop!❤️
