Established in 2002 by twenty area women, the Women’s Fund is a component fund of the Community Foundation promoting regional programs that inspire, empower, and invest in women and girls. It also allows for tax-deductible gifts of all sizes to collectively make an even greater difference in the communities of the middle and upper Red River Valley. Our mission: to provide ideas, energy, and resour

ces so that women and girls are empowered to achieve economic, social, and political equity. Directed by an Advisory Committee of community leaders and philanthropists, the Fund creates options and opportunities for women and girls by:

* Empowering women with training and education provided by the Women’s Fund Leadership Academy; and
* Inspiring the region to act on the issues and concerns affecting women and girls both today and in the future.

Some of the best things happen when women gather with intention. ✨

Sometimes meaningful connection starts with a conversation over a shared table, or simply standing beside someone who believes in the same things you do.

Join the Women’s Fund for an evening of connection, blooms, raffle prizes, and community, all in support of creating opportunities for women and girls in our region.

“Spell Bound”
is the recipient of the Judges Choice Award for ‘She Holds These Truths’ Art Show Celebrating International Women’s Day, March 2026.

This piece is inspired by the myth of Narcissus and all the things we can’t pull ourselves away from.

Artist Statement:
“My body of work is a dynamic coalescence of styles and media that works to find beauty in the more complex aspects of the human experience. Inspired heavily by myth and philosophy, my work often examines the ancient, the arcane, and the inarticulate nature of our world through symbolism, representation, and abstraction. Through the use of layered, dissected imagery, I create surreal works of art that question stereotypical narratives.”

“She is Clothed in Strength”
is the recipient of the People’s Choice Award for ‘She Holds These Truths’ Art Show Celebrating International Women’s Day, March 2026.

This mixed-media sculpture explores the lived experience of women across cultures, shaped by place, belief, and the uneven distribution of freedom and justice. Her body is wrapped in maps, symbolizing how a woman’s right, voice, and safety often depend on where she stands in the world. She holds a mirror outward, inviting viewers to confront how women are seen, defined, and treated, while words written on her open hands declare truth and worth that cannot be taken away. A crown rests at her feet, representing dignity and authority laid down or denied, and crystal tears trace both grief and resilience. She wears her heart on her sleeve showing compassion. Rooted in faith yet grounded in global reality, this work honors women who endure, speak truth, and stand clothed in strength even when expression and equality are restricted.

As part of our International Women’s Day month of workshops, Gina, a past Women’s Fund Leadership Academy graduate, led a group of girls in an improv class.

Through laughter and quick thinking, the girls learned to trust their voice and take up space. ✨

This weekend we celebrated the voices, stories, and creativity of women in our community through the International Women’s Day Art Show, She Holds These Truths. Each piece invited us to pause, reflect, and see the world from a different perspective.

Thank you to everyone who shared their work, their voices, and their time with us.

If you missed the opening, the gallery will remain open to tour through the end of March. Stop by and spend some time with the pieces and the stories they tell. You might just find each piece holds a truth of its own.

Today we celebrate the women who showed up when growth felt intimidating.
Who challenged themselves to dig deeper.
Who climbed higher and brought others with them.
Who inspired the women around them.
Who spoke another woman’s name in rooms she wasn’t in.
Who empowered those around them to step onto the stage beside them.

We celebrate these women today and every day.

Happy International Women’s Day ✨
