University Park Neighborhoods

University Park Neighborhoods Neighbors of northern Grand Forks, taking action together to improve our great neighborhood. The centerpiece of our neighborhoods is University Park.

Neighbors living between west of Columbia, east of Downtown, north of Demers, & south of Gateway, taking action to improve our community. Where we live connects the University of North Dakota campus to historic downtown and the near north neighborhoods. We’re interested in community-built initiatives to improve quality of living throughout our neighborhoods, from infrastructure and transportation

to policy and beautification. We want to know our neighbors and take action to make this a place where we — renters and property owners — can all be proud to live. To get involved or share your ideas for the future of our community, send us a message! We're happy to add you to our mailing list if you want to stay in touch.

We invite the community to help us plant a new pollinator bed and indigenous medicinal garden at Winship Elementary. We will also clean up the wood chips around the playground area and give some love to the new trees on the grounds. Hot cocoa provided.

Wear comfortable shoes and layers for the weather. Please bring water, shovels, trowels, gloves, rakes, and brooms, if you can! Get ready to learn about cold stratification in the garden right here at our neighborhood school. :)

Location | Winship Elementary | 1412 5th Ave N. Grand Forks, ND
Day + Time | 3:45 PM on Monday, September 21st
Cost | This is a free event, open to the public

Plants and other supplies for this clean up event have been purchased using funds from the University Park Neighborhoods fund with the Community Foundation of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks, and Region. A big thank you to the donors and volunteers who made it possible for us to grow this garden together.

🥫 Our shelves need your help.

Right now, St. Joseph's Food Pantry is experiencing one of our lowest inventories of essential food items. Every day, families, seniors, veterans, and individuals in our community rely on us for help putting food on the table. We want to be there for every person who walks through our doors—but we can't do it without your support.

If you're heading to the grocery store this week, would you consider picking up one or two extra items?

Items we need most:
• Boxed dinner kits (Hamburger Helper, etc.)
• Canned fruit
• Macaroni & cheese
• Pasta
• Canned vegetables
• Canned meat (tuna, chicken, Spam, etc.)
• Canned soup
• Pasta sauce
• Rice
• Ramen noodles
• Cereal

Also, we are in need of empty egg cartons.

Every donation—large or small—helps ensure that no neighbor has to leave our pantry empty-handed.

Donations can be dropped off during our regular business hours at St. Joseph's Social Care - 620 8th Ave. South.

Thank you for helping us continue our mission of Caring for Neighbors in Need. ❤️

Please share this post to help us reach more people in our community.

Former UPN staff members once again stepping up with the goal to do their best in service to our community! Bri's care for sharing the stories of our neighborhood, incorporating more family-friendly events into our annual programming, and assistance fundraising so that core programs (like Bringing Generations Together, our home repair fund, and our critical sidewalk repair assistance fund) ran smoothly and reached as many neighbors as possible for the greatest impact we could provide in 2025. We're looking forward to see what she'll do next.
