Making a splash to beat cancer 🌊 On June 14, participants of the 9th annual Spirit Polar Plunge in Grand Lake dove into the icy water to raise funds for the volunteer group Taking Steps for Cancer.

Participants of the Polar Plunge joyfully raced into Grand Lake, as the "chickens" cheered them on from the shore. Each plunger helped raise for Taking Steps, with the fund operated by Mountain Family Center.

Generous community members raised $70,000 in this year's Plunge! Participants also organized teams to win contests 🏆

MOST FUNDS RAISED
Roeslein with Captain Dawn Reall

BEST COSTUME
Squid Squad with Captain Anita Entz

LARGEST TEAM
Boxers and Bowties with Captains Cindy Coolen & Callie McCurdy

Charlie's Sports Bar & Grill provided a taco bar and attendees danced to tunes by Nine Toed Bob and the Stragglers. The event was made even more festive this
year with a birthday celebration, plus a soon-to-wed couple in attendance.

A dedicated group of volunteers make the Taking Steps for Cancer group possible. Volunteers host fun events throughout the year to support locals battling cancer. Learn more at TakingStepsForCancer.org
