The Neighbors Feeding Neighbors (NFN) organization is all about feeding those in need. We provide food to food insecure families, students, and individuals in Hood County, Texas,
and surrounding areas. First, we provide food to food-insecure school-aged children and youth through our Weekend
Food for Kids program. In partnership with teachers and staff of the Granbury Independent
School Distric
t, students are identified as being in households that don't have enough food
over the weekends. At the end of the school day each Friday, bags of nutritious food are
sent home with these students. These bags contain food for six meals; two breakfasts, two
lunches, and two dinners. The food can be easily prepared by a child. Staffing for the
initiative is provided by churches and other organizations that adopt a specific school. Second, we distribute food to families and individuals at our monthly First Friday Community
Pantry. This drive-through pop-up food pantry event provides fresh produce, dairy products,
and other nutrient-rich food products that are not typically available at food pantries in
Hood County. In partnership with Tarrant Area Food Bank and other local organizations,
Neighbors Feeding Neighbors serves approximately 225 families -- roughly 650 individuals
-- each month. This distribution takes place at Granbury First United Methodist Church,
and volunteers are provided by our many partner organizations. A different partner takes
the lead in providing volunteers each month. Third, we recently established a meal voucher program for students. Our pilot school is
Granbury High School and we use funds raised for this program to provide meal vouchers
to the counselors at the high school, so that they can provide it to any student needing a meal. Donate now: https://buy.stripe.com/eVabMneqj3s37rq4gg
