Every day in America, nearly 300 families receive the devastating call that a loved one has died from fentanyl poisoning or overdose.

Many never saw it coming.

Many victims never intended to take fentanyl at all.

Counterfeit pills and contaminated substances are silently taking lives in communities across our nation — impacting families of every background, age, and zip code.

This is why awareness matters.
This is why prevention matters.
This is why America must come together.

At United Against Fentanyl, we believe education, advocacy, community action, and open conversation can save lives.

That’s why communities nationwide are joining together on July 11, 2026 for Walkforlives — a national movement raising awareness and honoring lives impacted by fentanyl.

Because behind every number is a person deeply loved.

🖤 Join a walk.
🖤 Volunteer.
🖤 Bring awareness to your community.
🖤 Help save lives.

💜 Family Connection Challenge! 💜

As we head into the weekend, HCSAC is inviting families across Hood County to take the Family Connection Challenge!

Research consistently shows that strong family relationships help young people make healthy choices, build confidence, and navigate life's challenges.

This weekend, choose one of these simple connection activities:

🍽️ Eat a meal together without phones.
🚶 Take a walk around your neighborhood.
🎲 Play a board game or card game.
🚗 Go for a drive and talk about future goals.
☀️ Spend time outdoors together.
❤️ Ask each family member about the best part of their week.

You don't need anything fancy—just time, attention, and meaningful conversation.

Strong families build strong communities.

📸 Share a photo or tell us in the comments how your family completed the challenge this weekend!

Together, we're creating a healthier, safer, and more connected Hood County.

💡 DID YOU KNOW? 💡

Most teens are making healthy choices every day.

While negative stories often make headlines, the reality is that the majority of young people choose to avoid alcohol, to***co, and other drugs. They are focused on their futures, their families, their education, and their goals.

One of the most powerful protective factors in a young person's life is a caring, supportive adult.

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, teacher, coach, mentor, neighbor, or friend, your words and actions matter more than you may realize.

✅ Have conversations.
✅ Listen without judgment.
✅ Encourage healthy choices.
✅ Celebrate successes—big and small.

Together, we can continue building a community where our youth feel supported, valued, and empowered to thrive.

💚 Who was a positive role model in your life growing up? Give them a shout-out in the comments!

☀️ Safe Summer Starts With You! ☀️

Summer break is here, bringing opportunities for fun, adventure, and making memories with family and friends. It's also a great time to focus on the choices that help keep our youth and community safe, healthy, and thriving.

Positive connections, open conversations, and meaningful activities can make a big difference in helping young people navigate the summer months successfully.

This week, we challenge you to spend some quality time with the people who matter most.

💚 Tell us in the comments:
What is your family's favorite summer tradition in Hood County?

Whether it's fishing at the lake, backyard cookouts, family vacations, movie nights, or cheering at local events, we'd love to hear how your family spends time together!

Together, we can build a stronger, healthier community—one connection at a time.

Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Feeling heard and respected can be deeply supportive.

Listening with compassion isn’t just kind—it can make a meaningful difference in someone’s mental health journey.

When someone you love is living with a serious mental illness, your steady presence and understanding matter more than having the “right” words.

Why feeling heard matters:
• Builds trust and emotional safety
• Reduces feelings of isolation and loneliness
• Encourages openness and honest communication
• Helps individuals feel valued and understood
• Supports connection to ongoing care and support

What compassionate listening looks like:
• Giving your full attention without distractions
• Listening without interrupting or trying to “fix” everything
• Validating feelings (e.g., “That sounds really hard”)
• Avoiding judgment or minimizing their experience
• Being patient and allowing space for silence

How to show steady support:
• Check in regularly and follow through
• Offer encouragement without pressure
• Respect their pace in seeking help or sharing
• Help connect them to resources if they’re open to it
• Simply be present—sometimes that’s what matters most

The impact of compassion and presence:
• Strengthens relationships and trust
• Increases willingness to seek and stay in care
• Promotes a sense of safety and stability
• Supports long-term healing and well-being

Let’s continue to:
• Listen with empathy and intention
• Show up with consistency and care
• Create safe spaces for honest conversations
• Support loved ones without judgment
• Remind others they are not alone 💚
