What a weekend. ❤️🏀

I finally recovered enough to sit down and share these memories! Yesterday I was sore, exhausted, and still trying to take in everything that happened. What an incredible day!

To every player who laced up their shoes, every sponsor who donated, every spectator who filled the stands, every volunteer who gave their time, every security officer who helped keep everyone safe, our amazing MC who kept the energy alive, and the coaches and staff at Lincoln Preparatory School who welcomed us. We simply cannot thank you enough.

You made the First Annual Forever CDW Basketball Tournament more than just a tournament. You helped create a day filled with laughter, competition, fellowship, and love as we celebrated Caleb’s life and legacy. Seeing our community come together meant more than words can express.

To everyone who donated, sponsored, shared our posts, purchased shirts, cheered from the sidelines, or simply showed up, you are now part of this mission. Together, we’re building something that will continue to impact lives for years to come.

And this is only the beginning…

🗓️ Mark your calendars now because we’ll be back EVERY YEAR on Caleb’s birthday weekend to celebrate his life, bring our community together, and continue his legacy. Caleb’s birthday is June 23, so get ready! We’re already looking forward to an even bigger and better tournament next year!

The countdown is on! In just 2 days, we’ll tip off the 1st Annual Forever CDW Basketball Tournament!

Join us as we come together for a day of basketball, community, and purpose while honoring Caleb’s legacy and supporting mental wellness. Mr Larime “Blooka Blooka” Nelson will be our MC, we’ll have fun for the kids, free food, concessions, door prizes, and some fun basketball games.

A heartfelt thank you to Louisiana National Bank for supporting the 1st Annual Forever CDW Community Basketball Tournament!

A special thank you goes to Brandon for believing in our mission and helping make this event possible. Brandon’s son, Christian, and Caleb spent countless hours together as teammates on the AAU basketball circuit. Mr Norris sent me the first picture, and I remember this day so well! Those weekends in the gym, the road trips, the laughter, the competition….they’re memories I’ll always treasure. I miss those days more than words can express.

Basketball wasn't just a game to Caleb - it was one of the places he felt most at home. Whether he was practicing, competing, or simply spending time with his teammates, the court brought him joy, purpose, and lifelong friendships.

This Saturday, we gather to honor his life the best way we know how: by playing the game he loved.

The First Annual Forever CDW Foundation Community Shootout is more than a basketball tournament. It's a celebration of Caleb's life, his passion, and the impact he continues to have on so many people. It's also a reminder that while we cheer for one another on the court, we must continue to support one another off the court as well.

Mental health affects countless individuals and families, yet so many people continue to struggle in silence. Through this event, we hope to encourage conversations, spread hope, and remind everyone that asking for help is a sign of strength—not weakness.

As you look through these photos of Caleb with his teammates, we hope you see the joy, determination, and brotherhood that basketball gave him. Those memories will forever be cherished, and his legacy will continue to live on through every life we touch.
